We were currently at the hospital, I was quickly taken care of seeing as my gun shot wound wasn't too severe.

Y/n hadn't spoken a word. Neither of hs wanted to speak. We couldn't speak.

What would one say at a time like this? 'Hey our friend got shot but I really liked that new movie that came out?'

They were opperating on Matthias and we were anxiously waiting to hear results of what happened.

Y/n parents were called. They were apparently on their way but after what little thought they put on y/n I had my doubts they were in a hurry. Matthias parents were sitting across from us. His mom was a wreck. Worse than any of us if you could even believe it. And we were there to witness everything first hand.

Emil's and I's parents had came but I sent them back home. The last thing my brother and I were capable of doing was telling the story again for a 5th time.

The quietness, if you dismissed Mrs. Køhler's sobs, was so deafening. It was so quiet I could hear an ongoing ringing. Time was definitely taking too long to pass. Where was the doctor and why was it taking too long?

He had to be ok. He just had to.

Y/n was the last to talk to Matthias before he slipped out of consciousness. None of us knew what he told her but she refused to speak.

Not to the police. Not to Matthias parents. Not to her parents. Not to me. Not to Emil.

After what felt like forever the doctor had stepped out from the operating room holding a clip board and what I could assume was Matthias' charts.

"Good news, surprisingly enough, and lucky enough, the bullet had just barely missed any of his internal organs. He did lose a lot of blood but compared to what could have happened, that is a much better outcome. He is still unconscious due to the anesthesia but will wake up very soon. When he is awake, I advice you to hold off on any intense physical affection."

Without knowing, everyone released a sigh of relief. Even me. I hadn't noticed I was holding my breath the whole time the doctor was talking.

"C-Can we see him?"

All heads turned to y/n who had just spoke after remaining quiet for 2 hours.

With a nod, we all walked into the room.

My heart sunk at the sight of a pale fragile looking Dane. This almost deathly looking body was the Dane I knew?

He didn't look like the lively, energetic, dorky, athletic, strong, goofball we were friends with.

To say he looked awful would be an understatement. He looked dead.

He looked like he had gotten beat up by world champion wrestlers. Thrown into a stampede of bulls. Flushed down a giant down toilet. And then brought back to life as if he was Frankenstein's monster.

What gave me hope was the heart monitor that gave slow steady beeps that assured he wasn't as dead as he looked.

Our idiot Dane was alive and regardless of how he looked, he was alive.
