"A babysitter for you?" Benny asked, a loud laugh escaping his lips. Juniper looked at him for a second, before looking back down.
"Shh, this type of information can ruin a guys reputation. Besides, it's not for me. It's for Jane," Ethan said, looking around to make sure nobody heard the taller boy.
"I mean, on the bright side one of these premo hot babes could be at your house tonight," Benny said. "Hey hot stuff." He winked at a girl, causing Juniper to drop her gaze again.
Of course, Benny Weir, flirting with every girl he sees. That's not new.
"Dude!" Ethan exclaimed, after noticing Juniper look at the ground.
"What?" Benny asked.
Ethan just shook his head, not wanting to out his other best friend on her crush. "Anyways, all I know is that her name is Erica, and she goes to our school. With any luck, I can talk my parents out of it by last minute tonight."
"Good luck with that," Juniper spoke up. She didn't know what it was that got Ethan in that type of trouble in the first place, but it was obviously something serious if he now has to have a babysitter that's the same age as them. Before Ethan could give a reply, the three stopped in the hallway to notice the drama kids standing with Principal Hicks.
"Hey Principal Hicks, need a hand?" Jesse - the front man of the group - asked. After Hicks managed a reply to Jesse, the boy took his coffee cup from the older man. "Anything for our fearless leader. Do you mind?" Jesse then pulled it closer to his face, smelling the drink without waiting for a reply. "Ah, french roast."
"French roast," Hicks replied, without emotion.
"Good choice." Jesse smirked at the man.
"Good choice," Hicks said. Juniper furrowed her eyebrows at this, and before any of the three of them could talk about what they just witnessed, Jesse made his way over, his posse walking closely behind him.
"Juniper," He greeted.
"H-hey Jesse." Juniper smiled. She's talked to the group numerous times, but something about this particular friend group of hers slightly weirded her out.
"I think it's time for class, don't you?" He asked, raising an eyebrow at her.
Feeling intimidated, she quickly nodded. "Yeah, right. Class." Without even being able to muster a goodbye to her top two best friends, Juniper left the two in the hallway, leaving them dumbfounded as she walked away with Jesse.
"How does Jesse have that type of effect on her and I don't?" Benny asked, earning an eye roll from Ethan.
"Maybe because all you do is talk about hot babes."
"What? No I don't," Benny denied.
"Uh, yeah you do. You were talking about how a hot babe is going to be at my house tonight right before we saw the weird Jesse thing. Besides, why do you care if you have that type of effect on her or not? You like her?" Ethan asked, raising his eyebrows.
