Juniper sat in class, her pencil lightly hitting her textbook as she stared at the clock in the top of the front of the room. Time was going by slowly, too slowly, and she was beginning to give up on the idea of talking to Benny. It's not that she didn't want to anymore, she did more than anything, it's just every time she tried she either couldn't find him, or something came up and stopped it from happening.

It was beginning to irritate her. It seemed like whenever Benny needed to talk to her when he forced it to happen - it happened. But no matter how hard she seems to be trying she's getting nowhere but more anxious by the second. What was she supposed to do now?

The bell finally rang, and instead of rushing to gather her things like normal she slowly put her books back into her bag, shoving the bag on her back before making her way toward the entrance of the school.

She frowned even more when she failed to see any of her friends where they normally meet after school, but just sighed and got on the bus anyway. Of course as soon as she realizes things, and stuff begins to look up for her it would get bad again.

Finding an empty seat on the bus toward the back, she sat there and looked out for a moment before she felt someone sit down next to her. Her heart basically leaped out of her chest when she saw fluffy brown hair, but of course was disappointed when it was only Ethan, and not Benny.

Not that she didn't want Ethan to be the one to sit next to her, she was just hoping she'd finally have a chance at talking to Benny, even if it was on the school bus.

"Talk to Benny yet?" Ethan asked, his voice having a slight edge to it.

"No, sadly there was no luck in getting him for longer than thirty seconds today. Why?" She asked, looking over at her best friend.

"No reason," Ethan nervously said, although it was obvious something was going on. He sounded almost... relieved? When she had mentioned she hadn't.

"Ethan, why are you acting the way that you are? You were all about me talking to Benny and admitting these things to him yet the moment I walked into school today and told you that I was going to talk to him you suddenly changed, thinking today wasn't the right time." Juniper questioned, and Ethan sighed as he looked forward, before back at her to see the same expression she had on her face before.

"Benny thinks you really don't like him. And he's being dumb about it," He finally admitted, and Juniper's eyebrows knit together.

"Dumb how?" She pressed, and Ethan nervously bit his lip as he thought about what he wanted to say next.

"Well, he thinks you're going to take years to realize you really do like him or whatever, so he thinks he shouldn't sit around and mope forever. That he needs to find someone now. So, wa-la! He's pursuing Della." He motioned his hand around, using slight sarcasm. It was obvious Ethan wasn't thrilled about Benny's actions.

Juniper bit her lip to try to decipher how she was feeling, and she just sighed and turned to look out of the window in defeat.

"June, I know this is upsetting, but you have to admit. This is Benny we're talking about here." Ethan added, looking at his friend with worry written all over his face.

"I know, I get it. I should have known, I'll be over it soon." She whispered, but before Ethan could come up with a reply, Aspen, Frankie and Benny himself walked to the back of the bus, the two girls taking the empty seat in front of them and Benny forcing himself in the seat they were sitting on.

"So how was everyone's day?" Benny asked, earning short replies from everyone except for Juniper. She just continued to stare out of the window, fighting back tears that were threatening to escape.

It's not that she wants to cry, she doesn't. She's tired of looking like a baby and crying all the time. She needed to be strong this time, she's seen Benny do worse, and ten times out of ten, Benny doesn't normally get the girl he's trying to pursue.

It sounds like such a mean thing to think, but it's true. She's seen Benny go after countless of girls, and every single time he's never succeeded except for the time he kissed Della at the counter. But then again, for all we know Della probably only kissed him back because it was the heat of the moment and she was fighting vampires - something she never thought that she'd be doing.

Benny continuously looked over at Juniper, noticing the sadness on her face. Every time he's had the chance to see her today, she's looked happier, hopeful, so something obviously made that change and made her sad.

But what?

After what felt like forever for all five of them, it finally got to their stop and they all got off, Aspen and Frankie talking about having a movie marathon after they do their homework. Ethan stood right in between Juniper and Benny, not knowing what to say or do due to the awkward tension.

"You mind if I talk to Junie for a moment?" Benny asked Ethan quietly, who nodded and quickly walked forward to engage in whatever dumb conversation the other two sisters were having.

Juniper immediately noticed her best friend leaving, her breath catching in her throat as she realized she was alone with Benny.

Now that she's alone with the chance to talk to him, she doesn't know what to say with the newfound information she got from Ethan on the bus.

"Hey, Junie." Benny reached out, grabbing Juniper's hand and stopping her from walking any further.

"Yeah?" She asked, trying to look unfazed.

"What's up? I heard you wanted to talk earlier, and you also seemed in a better mood. Now you're sad, what's bothering you?" Benny asked, trying to search her eyes. They sparkled in the sun, and whether Juniper knew it or not Benny loved her brown eyes, even if she didn't.

"Oh, nothing. I'm really needing to get home. I need to do some cleaning and I figured I'd help my mother cook dinner tonight." It wasn't a lie, but Juniper hadn't planned to do that until AFTER her talk with Benny.

Funny how things changed.

"Are you sure? I mean, just because we had that heated talk recently doesn't mean that you can't come to me about anything, I'm still your best friend." He smiled at her. He's just trying to be supportive to let her know even though she broke his heart by saying the things she said before, that he was still here for her no matter what.

"I'm sure. You have fun with Della, alright? I gotta go." She smiled a sad smile at the boy, before patting his arm a few times and turning to catch up with her sisters.

"How'd it go?" Ethan asked as he noticed the taller boy staring at Juniper as the three girls crossed the street and onto their yard. They opened the front door and walked in, Juniper sending one last glance at Benny before walking in completely and shutting the door behind her.

"She told me to have fun with Della, she knows?" Benny asked, finally looking over at the other boy.

"I told her," Ethan shrugged.

"Right. Well, I gotta go talk to my grandma. See ya," Benny mumbled, turning and walking up the path to his house.
