Chris's POV

I jerk the steering wheel when I hear her yelp. When I look at her she looks in a lot of pain. I can feel her trying to come to me but she yelps again and I hear a thud. Crap. She blacked out. "Dan is she okay?" I ask looking at Dan in the rear view mirror. He leans down and gently picks her up and places her on the seat with her head in his lap. I don't know why but that makes me feel really jealous. "I don't know dude. She's in really bad shape. We need to take her to your mom." My moms a vet. So maybe she can help her. I nod my head and drive to my moms clinic.

We pull into the clinic and I park the car. Jake, Dan and I get out of the car and I pick up the injured she wolf. We all walk into the clinic and Jake goes and gets my mom. "Momma! We need your help!" he hollers. Jake and Dan aren't really my brothers but we spend so much time together we call each other's mom 'mom or momma'. My mom comes out of her officer, her swollen belly makes it obvious that she is a couple of weeks away from giving birth to my baby sister Annaleigh. "What can I do for you guys?" She asks looking at the wolf in my arms. "We where hiking when a bear attacked" her eyes go wide but she let's me continue, "It was about to attack when this wolf came out of nowhere and protected us from the bear. I couldn't leave her to die after she saved us." My moms eyes softened. She's always been a softie when it comes to saving animals. She hugs Jake, Dan, then me, careful of the wolf in my arms. "Bring her on back." she waddles into her examination room and we follow. "Lay her on the table." she says pulling out various things to examine her. "Okay, go on out. I need space to check on this poor thing." She says shooing us out the door. We go out into the waiting room while she checks the extent of her injuries.

My mom comes out with a serious look on her face. I stand up and go to her. "So, what's the news?" "She has several broken ribs, I did manage to get her shoulder and her face wounds sewn up. I treat her cuts and she's all bandaged up and I gave her a sedative to let her rest so her body can heal. I'm going to keep her here until I get off work then I'll have John load her into my car and I'll bring her home." John is my moms right hand man when it comes to heavy lifting. "Okay, thanks so much momma. I say and give her a hug, careful of her belly. "Bye momma. See you later." Jake says hugging her. "See yah momma." Dan says hugging her. "See you later boys! Love you all!" she says hugging us back and waving bye as we walk out the door and to my car.

Time skip.

Jake, Dan and I are all at my house waiting for my mom to get home so we can help her unload the wolf. 'Beep beep' we hear my mom's car horn honk as she pulls into the drive way signaling us to help bring her (the wolf) inside. I go outside and open my mom's door, helping her out. I then go the back door and gently lift her bandaged, sedated, blanket wrapped body out of the car and bring her inside. "Dan, Jake will you boys go to my car and get the bags out of the trunk?" Mom asks tossing Dan her keys. "Yes momma." they both say going to get the stuff. "What'd you get?" I ask laying her on the couch. "A dog bed, water and food dish, some meat, and her meds from the pharmacy." My mom replies just as Dan and Jake bring in her stuff and set it down. Jake gets the big, square, plush bag out of its packaging and lays it on the floor. I pick her up and gently lay her on the bed. She stirs a little before calming back down. "Boys can you set the test of that stuff up and put her meat in the fridge? I need to go lay down. Oh and your father will be home from work soon." my mom says waddling up the stairs. The guys and I put the dishes on the floor and put the medicine in the medicine cabinet and the meat in the fridge.

River's POV

Ugh. I feel like I got mauled by a dragon. When I wake up I look around and from the looks of it I'm in somebody's house. What am I laying on? Is this a dog bed? Oh well. It's comfortable. I check myself over and I'm all bandaged up. These humans saved me. They could have let me die. But they didn't. That's when my stomach starts to growl. Mmmm, I smell deer meat. I struggle to get up and limp through the house following my nose until I find the kitchen. Yes I know about kitchens. My pack and I used to raid abandoned houses for food during the winter months when something would steal our winter stock. When I come up to the fridge I can't stand on my back legs to get it open. I start to whimper and paw at the door. Were are those humans with their thumbs when you need them?? Just when I give up hope the humans that rescued me come into the kitchen. "Dude, I think it's hungry." Dan says poking Chris with his elbow. "It's a she." He says while opening the fridge and getting out a package of deer meat. My stomach snarls and I'm drooling. I follow him to these bowls and he puts the meat in the bowl. I rip into the meat, eating it all quickly. Then drinking some water. I don't know were I am. I need to find a pack so I don't turn into a feral rogue. But while I search I need to stay here and recover.
