River
"It's Dan." Chris looks at me with a surprised look on his face. "Are you sure?" "Yes, the moon goddess sent me a vision!" we get out of the bath and go into his office. He sits in his chair and I pace nervously back and forth. "Okay, so what did you see?" "I saw my pack. They where circled around the man. Then the vision came in closer on his face and I instantly recognized him... When did Dan go rogue?" he looks deep in thought then a look of realization crosses his face. "When we where taking care of you at my parents house he was acting really weirdly. When he left I hadn't seen him since. I talked to my dad and he said Dan went rogue after he killed his parents." My eyes go wide and I stop pacing. Dead parents. My poor pack. They will never be at peace until I howl the howl and put them to rest. Tears stream down my face and Chris comes to me an envelopes me in a big hug. "Love, it's okay. Everything will be okay." I sob into his chest and he picks me up and sits down in the chair with me on his lap. "I miss them so much." Chris rubs my back gently trying to calm me down. "I know you do. This will all be over soon and you will be able to grieve properly but right now we have to focus on taking Dan down. I don't want to lose you River." I look at him and press my lips to his. "Let's get training." I say as I pull away.
Three hours later.
Chris's POV
My pack and I have been at this for three hours. We are all so very exhausted. I send my guys inside while River and her training group have not returned yet. 'River?' its so weird. Usually she responds. I guess she's busy. 'Yes love?' yes she responded. 'Were are you guys?' 'We are on our way back from the Northern border.' Wow. Must've been some run. 'Okay, I'll see you when you get back.' After awhile River and everyone come back. Everyone goes inside and River is laying in the grass, sunning her white fur. I go over to her and sit down next to her. She scoots over to me and lays her furry wolf head on my lap. I stroke her fur and before long her breathing is deep and even. She's fast asleep. I know she misses being in her natural form. When I'm a wolf for too long I miss my human form. Not too badly but some. I sit there while she sleeps and continue to rub her fur. After a while it starts to get dark. So I pick her up and carry her to our room. I'm gonna let her say as a wolf tonight. In hopes of it bringing down her stress level. I still need to plan that date. I leave River in our room and go to my office. 'Hey Jake?'
'Yes?' 'what did you do for your first date with Sarah?' 'I took her out to dinner and a walk on the beach.'
I keep thinking about what Jake said when I hear a knock at my door. "Come in." Jake comes in and sits down on the couch. "So, planning the first date are we?" Jake teases with a sly smile. "Yeah. I want to make it special. What should I do?" I can see he is in deep thought. "I got it."
Time skip
"Okay! It's all planned out. Thanks Jake." "No problem. Now, I must et back to my mate." He winks and leaves the office. I role my eyes and laugh at his weirdness. I'm about to get back to my paper work when I hear my mate whimpering through the mate bond. I race to our room and she's tossing and turning like she's having a night mare. I put her necklace on her and wake her up. "River are you okay?" she hugs me tight and sobs into my chest. "It was awful!" "What happened?" "I had a dream that I had a baby and Dan killed her right in front of us then he killed you. It felt so real!" she sobs harder and I sit down with her on my lap. "Shhhh, it's okay." Her dream kinda scared me too. If we did have a baby together I certainly would hope it's after all this mess is over. Although if we did have one now I'd still be happy. I wouldn't let Dan anywhere near my pups. If her dream comes true it'll literally kill her. Loosing your mate is one thing, but a baby too, it would be fatal. It's all just too much stress. I hope we will be prepared for battle.
