Chapter 16: It's over. We did it.

River's POV

And I howl. It sounds so dark and ominous. No wonder it's forbidden. When I bring my head back down all of my dead pack freeze. Then they turn towards the woods and leave to finally rest in peace. I watch as my dad and sister walk off into the woods. I tilt my head back one more time. Only its a howl of mourning. For the loss of my family. Chris walks up to me and nudges me tenderly. 'You did it! Its over now. They can finally rest.' I nod my head not trusting my voice. We all shift back and head towards the medial wing. When we get there, there are a lot of injured wolves. When it's finally my turn I go into the room and sit on the table. When the doctor comes in he assesses my ear and stitches up what he can. "I'm afraid that's all I can do. They found you ear but it's too badly damaged." Chris doesn't look happy with this. "Can we see the ear?" the doctor has a nurse bring in my ear. It's packed in ice and when he pulls it out it does look bad. "I'm sorry Alpha. There's no fixing this." Right when Chris is about to say something a flash of light goes off and when it dims back down the Moon Goddess is standing in the room. We all bow. "Now there's no need for that my children." We all stand up and she brings my ear over and places it where it needs to be. Then there is a small blue glow and when it fades my ear is right back where it needs to be and is good as new. "Can you hear?" Chris asks. "Yes, I can hear. Thank you Moon goddess." She nods her head and fades away. After all the craziness of today I'm glad to finally take a hot shower, put on my pajamas and just crawl into bed. I think my mate had other ideas though. He comes to bed and we start kissing. The next thing I know is all clothes are off and we make love all night.

The next day

I wake up and my mate is not in bed. Where is he? I get out of bed and put on some under wear then some black leggings and one of Chris's shirts. Making my way to the kitchen I see my shirtless mate cooking breakfast. He turns around and smiles. "Good morning love. Sleep well?" he says as he continues to cook. "Good morning. I slept like I hadn't slept in years." I reply hugging him from behind. he turns around and hugs me back. Then he lifts me up and sets me on the counter. Chris hands me some bread and says, "Can you put this in the toaster? It's behind you." Reaching behind me I grab the toaster and put the bread in. Then I push down the thing that makes the bread disappear. I put the toaster back on the counter and hop down, then out of nowhere Caitlyn stomps into the kitchen, she stops in the door way and puts her hands on her hips. Chris puts out breakfast on some plates an puts honey on the toast. When he turns around he sees Caitlyn, "Yes Caitlyn, do you need something?" she looks really mad. "Yes! I need you to dump your little bimbo! She is not the rightful Luna of this pack, I am!!!!" She may look mad but Chris and I are furious. Chris takes a step forward but I put my arm in front of him and step forward. I hold his hand to calm him and his wolf down. "Let me tell you something Caitlyn, Chris is MY mate and I am his. We will not have some plastic Barbie doll come in between us. You are not nor will you ever be Luna of this pack so just accept it and move on!!!" She stomps her foot like a five year old and leaves the room. Chris wounds his arms around my waist and plants kisses up and down my neck. "You know, you're hot when you're mad." "And you know food goes cold if you don't eat it while it's hot." He laughs at my silliness and we grab our plates and eat in comfortable silence. One thing keeps going through my mind. This isn't the last we'll see if Caitlyn. We may have won the battle, but have we won the war?

Hey guys in honor of 400 reads I am updating for the second time today!! So, this book will be over in a couple of chapters and I don't know if I will do a sequel or not, I'll let you guys decide in a vote
