Chapter 3

Chapter 3:

The sun was rising. Theo left the convenience store. He opened the box with the burn phone. He was utterly lost. And he wasn't sure where to go.

He went back to the car and typed in a number.

"She better pick up," he muttered.

"Hello?" asked a familiar voice.

"Imogen, it's Theo. I need your help."

"Theo! Where are you? How did you escape?" she shouted.

"Did you ever doubt me?" he chuckled.

"You got arrested and I'm so sorry. I panicked. Please don't be mad at me! I ran after that chit escaped."

"Imm, calm down. I'm not mad. I just need your help."

"What happened? Where are you?"

"Long story. But I'm about 20 minutes outside Poughkeepsie, New York. I need to lay low."

"I think I can help. But we need to move fast. I don't think it's hit the News yet."

"No, but it's only a matter of time before they're out looking for me."

"Get to the train in Poughkeepsie as quick as you can. I have a plan."

Nori awoke, screaming. "Nori? What's wrong?" Derek's arms wrapped around her. "What's wrong, babe?"

"It's Theo. He's after me," she cried. Nori tried to pull herself back to reality. She took a few deep breaths.

"Theo can't hurt you anymore. He's locked up and he's going to stay that way."

"But I...I had a dream. In it he escaped by turning into a car and the hospital let him go because they don't treat cars."

"Can Theo turn into a car?" asked Derek matter-of-factly.

"No. He can't." She knew it was crazy, but she felt like something was wrong. She grabbed her phone from the nightstand, clutching it tightly.

"Why don't we get lunch?"

"What time is it?"

"It's already noon. I know you were up late so I let you sleep." Nori had been up obsessing over the fact that it was the anniversary of her kidnapping.

"I think I want to get lunch."

"Get dressed. I'll take you to that Brunch place you like." Derek got out of bed and headed to the bathroom.

"Turn on the TV before you go."

He smiled and turned it on. The commercials were good noise and she did her daily breathing.

"It's the anniversary of my kidnapping. Theo is locked up," she thought.

The commercials were playing. She starting picking up the clothes from the floor and tossing them into the laundry bin in the closet. A commercial for Dawn dish soap ended and the News came on.

"We're heading to Tayna Matthers on the scene of a recent breakout."

"Thanks, Phil. I'm here at St. Argus Mental Hospital in Yonkers, New York, where award winning actor and kidnapper, Theo Masterson, escaped. Police are still investigating the recent breakout, but he is presumed to be in a blue Honda HR-V and possibly using the identity of Jason Renart."

"No! No, no, no!" she shouted. "Derek!"

Derek came running. "Nori what's wrong?"

"He escaped. He's going to come after me."
