Summary: Mikayla Walsh's biggest acting achievement to date was playing Honoria "Nori" Fintan, the famous actor Theo Masterson's kidnapping victim, in a biopic. She thought that it would open doors for her, but so far it had just gotten her into a nasty relationship that ended in tears and resentment. But what happens when another Hollywood Heartthrob, the dashingly handsome Jackson Danvers, decides to pull off the same scheme as Theo Masterson? With the goal in mind of fixing all of Theo's past mistakes, Mikayla soon finds herself in the celebrity's clutches. Will knowledge of past events change the outcome?

Chapter 44:

"Theo, you're driving too fast. You're going to crash," said Nori, in a voice hardly above a whisper. The car was silent and tense. He kept his gun in his hand, as he steered.

He didn't say anything. The silence was unnerving.

Theo merged onto the highway and blazed down the empty road. It was a long time before they saw other cars. He weaved his way into the growing traffic from the next exit and Nori knew it would be a lot harder to find them.

"Someone's following us," mumbled Theo.

"What?" She looked out the window, hopeful. But she wasn't sure. "Who's following us?" Nori hadn't seen anyone behind them when they left. She prayed to whatever deity was out there that it was true.

"Not sure. But they're in the blue Toyota."

"Please, Theo, just...just slow down. We can end this and no one has to get hurt."

"I'm not going to lose you again," he growled. "I'd rather die."

She half wanted to remind him that he'd never had her in the first place, that he'd taken her, but that was a sure fire way of making him crash the car or shoot her.

Suddenly, his hands clenched so tightly around the wheel that his knuckles were turning white. The sound of sirens followed. Cars were pulling over to the side. Theo revved his engine and pushed forward.

"Please! Theo. If you stop the car I'll tell them the truth. I'll tell them that I wanted to be with you," cried Nori, gripped onto the seat, afraid that she'd fly through the window.

The blue Toyota that Theo kept pace with Theo, refusing to merge back into the group of police cars.

"You're lying!" he shouted. "I know you're lying. You just want to be rid of me. But if I'm going down then you are, too!"

If they crashed at this speed they'd surely die. Nori wasn't going to let him decide her fate anymore. She didn't know much about cars having never driven one, but she knew one thing for sure. She grabbed hold of the emergency break and pulled it as hard as she could. She braced herself as the car started to skid out.

"What the fuck did you do!" shouted Theo.

He had no control of the car. At least if she died it wasn't going to be because he decided to kill her.

"If you don't slow down we're going to roll," screamed Nori.

It was the same way her parents died. The only difference for them was at least a foot of snow and a car that rammed into them sending them skidding across a highway before they rolled over the guard rail.

"Please, Theo!" she yelled, but it was too late. The car swerved on the road, something seemed to crash into them, and Nori clamped her eyes shut, fearing that this was grizzly end. A pair of arms wrapped around her before she passed out.
