Chapter 13: Fear

A/N: This chapter is very short. I'm sorry! (T_T)

Kouha: Kana?

Kagenami: !

       With no hesitation, she embraces him. He was surprised by the sudden hug as his sword disappeared in his grasps. Tears then came out from Kagenami's eyes as she held him tighter.

Kouha: K-Kana? Oi, what's wrong?

     Tears streamed more from her eyes as she was trembling in fear. She mustered the courage to speak up, say what she has to say.

Kagenami: I... I remember...! I remembered everything....!

Kouha: What do you mean? Kana, you should--

Kagenami: When I was making porriage for Linda, her majesty came by the kitchen and gave me a letter, hoping that she gets well soon...!

Kouha: Wha--

Kagenami: I gave the letter to Linda and she looked sad...! I questioned if something's wrong, but she just shrugs it off as if it's nothing...!

       Kouha was silent for the moment as he let Kagenami continue talking.

Kagenami: That night, I asked Judar where Linda is...! He told me that she's at the castle's imperial court room and has an important business to deal with...! I know how stubborn Linda is towards her work, but she was still sick and she rather work than some sickness bother her...!

Judar's voice echoing in Kagenami's mind: You might suffer the consequences.

Kagenami: But when I arrive at the imperial court room, there's no one there...! I thought it was a prank until a black monster like things appeared behind me...! I don't know what else happened other than knowing Linda was okay in front of me...! However...! However...! Strange people that I've never seen appeared with weapons on their hands and stabbed her as she shield me...! They let them go as the black monster thing grabbed Linda and crushed her as if she's made of glass...!

Linda's voice echoing in Kagenami's mind: Live on...

Kagenami: Before she died, she said that she wanted to see her son, but she never got that chance to do so...! Kouha... what does kindness mean to someone? Is it to take it for granted to decieve someone or to turn in a favor?

Kouha: ...........I don't know. Kindness appeared in many ways and even I don't know how to explain it. I'm sorry...

Kagenami: ...Earlier ago, I saw Prince Hakuryuu, Judar, and her majesty near at the palace grounds...! I don't know what they discussed, but-- her majesty wasn't like herself...! Her eyes, no matter how many times I tried to not think about it, I feel uneasy...! Her beautiful, kind eyes became murderous as she spoke to her son...! I ran before I could see what happened next...!

        What she said became a puzzle that was finally together piece by piece. Kouha was shocked, and knows that there's little that he and his brothers knew. But if what Kagenami said is true, then everything what happened with Linda's case make sense. However, there are still a few things that he needs to confirm. Seeing Kagenami in a sorrow state, he pats her head trying to comforting her at least a little.

Kagenami: I'm scared...! I'm so scared, Kouha...! 

Kouha: (whispers) I know... I know you are.... 

Kagenami: What if...! What if her majesty is not who I thought she be...?! I-I can't believe someone...! Someone who is so kind as her be this cruel...! Is she... Is she the reason why Linda died...?! Whether it's the right answer or not, I still don't want to believe it...! But witnessing what happened today, makes sense somehow...! However, it's just makes me writhing in pain...! She's... She's like a second mother to me and yet--!

        Not wanting to see her in pain anymore, Kouha karate chop Kagenami as she "fell asleep"  with more tears streaming more. He laid her on the bed and put a blanket over her body.

Kouha: [thinking] She's paranoid and been crying all this time, witnessing that. [speaking] Kana...

        He then held her hand tightly, not wanting to let go.

Kouha: You know too much. You witness so much. How much do you have to endure? But what could I do? What can I do? At the end, I'm weak and I couldn't so anything for you.

          Meanwhile and not noticing, his brothers witness the entire scene and left silently without Kouha knowing.

Kouha: No matter what, I'll do what I can. Just wait a little longer. Until then, let me protect you from everything that's hurting you so. [thinking] My brothers and I will do something about this. I'm sure we'll think of something. [speaking] I promise that everything would be alright. I'm sure of it, Kana.

A/N: It's been a long time, everyone. How are you all? I'm sorry for appearing in the middle of nowhere in Wattpad for such a long time. I know I've already said this before, but really, a lot has happen in 2018 and it wasn't a great year for me.

Hopefully and praying that 2019 is a beautiful and a blessing year to not just me, but everyone as well. I'll do what I can now that I have Christmas Break.
