The Doctor and I leave the Tardis and have only walked about 30 paces before she grabs my hand in hers and starts swinging them gently as we walk together.
My face immediately gets hot and I struggle to focus.
Yaz, stop it.
I push these feelings to the side as The Doctor talks to me.
"Two regenerations ago, I loved Jammie Dodgers and Bowties." I smile at the thought of The Doctor eating a Jammie Dodger.
How cu-
No, stop.
"Now I'm in love with Custard Creams and my amazing yellow braces." The Doctor smiles at me.
I don't think The Doctor really knows just how much of an effect she has on me. Even this hand holding makes me blush slightly.
Much to my utter embarrassment.
The Doctor sees me blush from the corner of her eye and frowns but doesn't say anything about it.
She probably thinks I'm a weirdo.
We eventually reach the shop, me letting go of The Doctor's hand as we go to walk in. She looks at me then at her hand then to me again, looking almost upset that I've let go of her hand. "What's the matter?" She asks, frowning at me.
I look at the concrete floor, ashamed that I don't want people to get the wrong idea at the sight of The Doctor and I holding hands.
"Nothing." I mumble.
I then muster up all my courage, breathe in deeply and grab The Doctor's hand. She looks at my hand and tries to remove hers but I only hold tighter.
Once she realises that I'm not going to let go, she smiles, her face instantly lights up with happiness.
And, with that, we walk into the shop.
The shop is quite ordinary but, once we enter it, The Doctor stares around like a child in a sweet shop.
Her eyes seem to twinkle and shine with amazement and I can't help but smile at her.
"Would you like some help?" Behind the till is a wholesome looking old lady with round yellow glasses and a yellow cardigan to accompany it.
She looks at The Doctor and I, then looks down to our hands and her eyebrows raise in what seems to be either shock or confusion.
Spotting her reaction, I rip my hand out of The Doctor's and run out of The shop.
This was a bad idea. See where your bravery got you? She probably thinks The Doctor and you are dating.
Which you're not.
Which we're not.
The wind blows roughly around me as I find myself breathing in huge gulps of cold crisp air. Tears from both the cold and the shop run down my cheeks as I slid down the side of a wall, sit with my head in my hands and my knees tucked in underneath me.
I hear the muffled ring of a shop bell ringing and look up to see The Doctor holding toilet paper and three family sized packets of Custard Creams.
Her head pops up from over the mountain of biscuits and she smiles at me.
But it's a sad smile that doesn't reach her eyes.
She sees I'm in pain and is trying her very best to help.
This woman is everything.
"How about we head back to the Tardis, sort out your nose and eat these bad boys?" She then shakes the three Custard Cream packets like they're maracas.
I can't help but let out a small laugh at the sight of her. Wiping my tears, I get to my knees, take the toilet roll from The Doctor and walk alongside her.
As we walk, I sniffle and wince as my nose starts to burn.
"You okay?" The Doctor looks at me from the corner of her eye.
I smile at her. "Yeah, I'm fine." I say, waving nonchalantly at her.
"If you say so." She looks at me, frowns and then looks ahead. We walk in silence for a couple more minutes when I feel a sudden warmth in my hand.
I gasp loudly and look down in fright.
The Doctor is holding my hand.
"Is this okay, I thought it would make you feel better." She says, turning red with embarrassment.
I look at our hands then at The Doctor then back at our hands.
"This is perfectly okay, thank you Doctor." I say, my words full of meaning.
