The Threat Outside

"Let's go Team Tardis."

The Doctor holds the door open for Graham and Ryan to leave. As they filter out she shoots me a look.

"What's wrong?" I ask her as I analyse her face.

She looks so worried.

"I just don't want you to get hurt in this adventure."

Her neck flushes a bright red and, as it spreads to her face, she begins to break eye contact.

I smile warmly at her as I walk over to her.

Snaking my arms around her neck, placing my head just in the placement of her shoulder. My hands intertwine behind her neck, connecting with the hot skin.

Gradually, The Doctor's hands find their way over to my waist as she rests her head on my shoulder, fitting perfectly into the space of my neck.

"We'll all be fine Doctor." I tell her as we hug.

"I know, I'm just a little worried."

I sigh into her neck and close my eyes.

The problem is, travelling with The Doctor is unpredictable. Anything could happen. I've seen the pain in her eyes, the emotional turmoil that she's had to go through. Clearly indicating that she's seen things.

Things that she'll never be able to get over, no matter how hard I try to help her.

"We'd better catch up with Ryan and Graham."

The Doctor pulls away slowly, not before kissing me sweetly on my forehead, turning me an embarrassing shade of red

She giggles as she holds the door open for me as we exit the Tardis, closing the door behind her.

"Now, what's been happening while I've been away?"

The Doctor turns to Ryan and Graham expectantly.

I see hesitation flash on both of their faces before Graham faces The Doctor and begins to explain.

"These round blob things with massive teeth began to just grow from the ground and start attacking people out of the blue!"

The Doctor listens attentively as Graham continues to explain.

"We tried to fight them off but, as it turns out, they do not like that."

He then turns to Ryan and nods slightly.

"One of them bit me."

Ryan begins to roll up his sleeve, wincing in pain as he does so. The now rolled up sleeve reveals a large gash, tinged purple and blue around the sides.

The Doctor's eyes widen in size as she begins to rummage in her grey coat for her sonic screwdriver. Once found, she scans Ryan's arm.

She steps back to read the results on the screwdriver.

"Well, um. Ryan, don't panic but it seems like the bite is venomous."

Ryan gulps hard and he rolls down his sleeve.

"How venomous?"

The Doctor looks up from the sonic with a look of sympathy on her face.

"It seems like it could kill you, but that's only if we don't get the antidote and we will get it. I promise."
