"So, you're telling me I'm meant to be the green paladin of Voltron and my family are in the hands of, aliens?" Katie asked in disbelieve after she was just told their story.

She sat on the couch in Keith's small shack. She nearly fainted after seeing the castle ship and the 2 Alteans. Matt would go on and on about all these theories of alien life, who knew he's been right all along. Everyone who called him crazy, will sure get a wake up call once they see them.

It was a lot to take in, Keith gave her a cup of water as she tried to wrap her head around everything.

She didn't know what to feel. Scared? Worried? Happy? Amazed? She basically felt it all, and aside from finding out her family was truly alive, she was antsy to find more about what technology the alien people have in store.

"Yes." Shiro said as he sat beside her.

"But there're alive right? They're okay?"

"Yes, last I saw them, they were fine. Or as fine as it can get in a Galra prison."

"You have been chosen to be the Guardian Spirit of the Forest and Voltron's left hand. Only you can pilot the green lion. Without you, Voltron can not be formed and the universe is doomed." Allura clarified, jumping into business.

Katie shook her head and stood up, placing the cup on the makeshift coffee table. "What? No. I didn't sign up to go up into space to fight in some alien war I have no business in being a part of. If I'm going up into space, it's to find my brother and father! And besides, I have a life here. My mom, she-she can't take care of herself on her own. She needs me."

"Listen, Katie, right? I get that you have responsibilities here. I do to. I would love nothing more than to stay here and be with my own family. But if we don't take Zarkon down now, he'll eventually come to Earth and everything we know will be gone." Lance said.

Lance was known to be a bit of a goofball, so it was a surprise to Hunk when he saw how caring and serious he was. But in the same respect, he has more experience with kids Katie's age. So he knows how to calm them when they're distressed.

"We need to take the battle to him, to protect Earth and all of our families."

Katie looked into his eyes, seeing through the bravery and into the sea of fear. He was right and she saw how scared he was, deep down, just like her. She doesn't want anyone near her home and this is her chance to get the rest of her family back.

She took a moment and stared at the the mark lying dormant on her wrist. It stopped glowing a while ago.

Allura placed her hand on Katie's other shoulder and looked at her sincerely.

"I understand that this is a lot. Not just for you, but all of you." She said, looking at the rest of the group. "We will need time to gather supplies and make some minor repairs, it will take about a day. So you can use this time to go back to your homes, be with your families. But, by the following sunrise, we must take our leave."

It was like the despair in the room washed away, at least a little. Lance felt so thankful for the princess' decision, his crush on her growing even more. She's defiantly something else. He'll have the time to explain everything to his family, they all will. They get to say their good byes.

"That's kind of you Princess, thank you." Shiro answered on behalf of everyone.

By sunrise of that night, the team got a few hours of sleep before going their separate ways and promised to meet back in the desert the next morning.

Hunk and Lance traveled together since they were neighbors. They talked all the way home, planning about what they were going to do when they see their families, besides giving them a thousand hugs.
