"Mom?"

"Yes, it's me Katie. I missed you so much."

Pidge couldn't believe her eyes, she thought the concussion was making her hallucinate. Even if that's the case, she hoped, deep down, that this hallucination would never fade away.

"M-Mom, I-I am so sorry! I should have paid more attention. I-If I was around more often then I could have-"

"No, Katie. This isn't your fault. I did this. I made the choice to leave you behind, I was selfish, and I'm sorry for that. To put you through so much sorrow and pain.. I hoped I would make it up to you in some way and now I can."

"But h-how?"

"By defeating Sendak and saving your friends before the castle takes off."

"But Mom there's too many of them. I can't do this on my own. I've only been training for a few weeks! I-I'm useless.. I'm no paladin, I'm just a girl from Earth, Mom. I can't do what they do.." Pidge said sadly, facing her gaze downward at her dirtied boots.

Colleen's hand gently raised her chin, forcing her to look upward.

"Katie Holt has never been a quitter. Even after the news about the Kerberos mission, you kept climbing. You studied, got a job, and took care of me despite the outcomes and consequences. You're more of a paladin than you realize. Just look inside yourself, Katie. Awaken the power I know you have. And remember, if you worry too much about what could go wrong, you'll miss a chance to do something great.."

"Mom? Mom!" Colleen's apparition slowly faded away. Pidge's tears slid down her cheeks like water falls, she'll never forget that touch, those words. She'll make her mother proud!

She took a deep breath and closed her eyes, concentrating. "Alright. Just look inside myself.."

The youngest paladin blocked out everything, the footsteps growing louder, the distant screams of the Arusians, and the thought of what trouble her friends may be in.

All that was left to listen to, was nature's echoes. The blowing of the wind making the leaves rustle, the flaps of the birds flying, the creaking of the tree bark.

It was like everything was communicating to her, all different impulses spreading throughout her body and translated in her brain.

She gasps opening her eyes as she heard the footsteps reach her location. Out of instinct she threw her hand out, making a thick vine protrude from the ground and to the oncoming guard, knocking him unconscious.

Pidge posed in shock, watching the vine slowly retract as she relaxed, once out of immediate danger. Her elemental mark glowing through her armor, and her eyes flickering in and out of that glow as she used the power. "Woah.."

The other guard shot lasers at her, making Pidge duck and through her hand out again.

This time, 3 vines shoot out from the ground behind her and tie the Galra up against the tree.

A smirk appeared on the young girl's face, along with a soft chuckle at her victory. "Thanks Mom. Now let's go save my friends."

Lance felt like his body ran the 100 meter dash, he ached all over.

Lance.

He heard a voice in the distance and some pressure on his shoulder. The voice sounded familiar and the hand was warm and comforting.

He felt the cold metal of the floor through his armor -wait. Why was he on the floor? Wasn't he just heading to the ballroom with Keith?

"Lance!" The blue paladin blinked his eyes open when hearing the shout. His vision hazing in and out before becoming clear and seeing his raven haired rival leaning over him. He saw those deep purple eyes again, those same purple eyes he's secretly admired for weeks now.
