"I can't believe it. How could the Gem of Eternal Life be missing?" Coran asked for the 10th time.
He, Allura, and the other paladins were gathered on the bridge, looking over the large holo screen of stars and identified planets. Coran pulled up the map for the Dalterian Belt, which is said to hold the most wild planets and animals. Each planet and moon containing a different atmosphere and different types of plant life, with creatures of all kinds.
Faunatonium, a chemical substance used to charge and power many Altean machines, was found there as well.
"So what exactly is the Gem of Eternal Life?" Lance asked, with his arms crossed.
"Well according to Altean legends, it's a type of jewel that used natural energy to start life on the planet it resided on." Coran explained. "Many say that the gem was created by an ancient celestial being known as Bob. The planet, which is now called Leben, was slowly losing it's atmosphere. All the plants and animals were dying. Legend says that Bob created the Gem of Eternal Life to save the planet and all the habitants on it."
"Ok, so this gem is basically a source of healing energy that saved a planet from dying, but what does that have to do with the green lion?" Pidge asked fascinated.
"The Green Lion was created in the Dalterian Belt on the very same planet the gem was on. My father forged the lions in their own unique habitat so that the energy from them was stronger. What he didn't know, was how powerful the magic was going to be. The gem must have sensed the Green Lion somehow and connected with it's inner spirit." Allura answered.
"So then, if we find the Gem of Eternal life and put it back where it's supposed to be, then all life will be restored.. or something?" Lance questionably asked.
Coran thought it out in his head and nods. "That's actually correct. According to legends, the gem was placed in a temple, built by Bob himself. It's heavily guarded with traps, each coded with it's own riddle. I only know of one person that was able to come out of the temple alive, and that was Trigel. The original Green Paladin."
Everyone gasps. It all made sense now. Pidge remembered Lefraya telling her that Trigel will be able to help them find the gem. This must be why.
"So then if we want to find the gem, we have to find Trigel. She'll know how to help us."
Coran looked at the girl solemnly, his eyes grim. "I'm sorry but, that's impossible."
"What? How come?"
"Trigel.. is dead. During the fight against the Galra, while King Alfor went up against Zarkon, the other paladins battled fearlessly against Haggar, Zarkon's witch."
Shiro's eyes widen, he knew that name. "Haggar. I-I think I've seen her before, while in Zarkons prison. Her magic is.. corruptive."
"No, but.. If that were true Lefraya would have told me. Why would she mention her if-"
"I'm sorry Pidge." Allura said softly, placing a hand on the distraught girl's shoulder. "But it's true."
Pidge sighed, but she had to stay strong, this wasn't over yet. "So then what can we do? Lefraya said that once we found the gem, Trigal will know what to do with it. I thought if we found Trigal first, maybe she might have an idea on who would even take the gem or where it could even be!"
"Maybe we don't need Trigal." Keith suddenly said, his hands holding his chin in thought.
"Coran you said that Trigel was the only person who was able to get through the temple right? I don't think it was a coincidence that she became the green paladin after making it through."
