Chapter 20

a few moments later

I looked at Shawn for support, he looked away. I've got 20 days until I'm due, did Suga forget!? I started to sweat, my forehead was sweating, I was stressing out. I felt a trickle of warm water sink into my pants, I ignored it. I couldn't do this, Jungkook and I were finally on good terms with each other, we were finally civil. 

Thankfully Jungkook stepped in. "we'd best be on our way out hyungs." he says, looking at his stylish watch. I nodded in approval, smiling.  "kookie! we only just came!" moaned RM. Jungkook stared at him, telling him to move his ass. "fine then," RM said, grumpily. They cleared up the mess they made and left after we hugged. "bye!" I said, "come again soon!" Shawn said, he seemed to like them, he was now pretty close with RM and V, practically brothers in that short space of time. 

"that was awkward wasn't it?" I asked Shawn. He nodded with a "mhm," and said he was tired and left to go to bed. 

I moaned, my babies were kicking, kicking so hard it started to hurt. I groaned. "are you okay?" Shawn says, running back down the stairs. "I dont know." I groaned more. "what should I do!?" Shawn started to panic.

I felt a pop, I thought it was just a noise from the kitchen or Clyde, "did you hear that?" I asked Shawn. "hear what?" he said, still panicking.  "there was a pop, like someone cracking a knuckle" I try to explain. I got up from my chair and realised there was a puddle of water from where I sat. I flushed brightly, I'd wet myself. "I'm gonna  go.." I said to Shawn and he nodded, smiling. 

I changed my underwear and by the time I'd walked out of my room, it was all wet again. I heard a pop again and felt  a gush of water. It felt like a water balloon popped between my legs. "Shawn!" I managed to yell. "yes?" I heard. "my waters broke!" I inform him. 

"WHAT!?" Shawn couldn't stop panicking. "WE'RE 20 DAYS EARLY, ARE YOU SURE!?" he yelled. I nodded. Shawn helped me down the stairs and picked up our bags for the baby and food for Shawn. We were already prepared for this moment. Finally, I was going to meet my babies. 

Shawn informed Clyde that my water had broke, so we wouldn't be back until a while. We rang both our parents, telling them the news and told them to spread it on, over instagram etc. so Shawn and I wouldn't get phone calls during this moment. "are you ready baby?" he asked me. I nodded, smiling so hard. He stated the engine and drove off to the hospital.

"Shawn Mendes and Hailee Steinfeld." Shawn said to the doctor. "we're 20 days early." I tell the doctor. "don't worry, we've had women that were 2 months early." I sighed with relief, this had to be perfect.

It was 9 p.m. we were going to have a long time at the hospital. I had to get changed into a lime green maxi dress that I had, since the babies needed space. 

I laid down on the delivery bed and let the nurses handle me. Shawn propped himself on the sofa, sorting out the clothes for the babies, I had bought quite a few in my spare time. 

The doctor said "your cervix has started to soften so it can open. This is called the latent phase, you may feel irregular contractions." Just as soon as he finished saying that, my first contraction had started. I held onto Shawn's hand, closing my eyes. My first contraction had lasted for a minute. Th doctor said if I kept going on at this rate, I'd be here for maybe 5 days, I gasped. 

I have been having so many contractions, they were 5 minutes away from each other so I knew when it'd come, I was fine with the contractions, I just wasn't ready for the pushing. I sighed. I looked up at Shawn, he smiled at me, asking me if I was okay. I smiled back and nodded. Is it normal to say that I am actually enjoying this?

I couldn't wait for Paige and North. I looked up at Shawn, he was so excited.
