Chapter 17

morning

I didn't know what to say or think. Niall was my best friend, I didn't know he felt that way about me. I grab my phone and text my best friend.

"camila help?" I text, hoping for a reply.

"yes?" she replies back, she was always on her phone.

"niall loves me but I love shawn." I type in.

"tell him that." I read. Ugh, not really helpful.

"I can't, that's painful." I message.

"then I can't help." she says.

Camila Cabello is now offline

Someone got up on the wrong side of the bed today! She was still mad at the fact that Shawn and I didn't go with her to the fireworks. 

kick. kick. kick. Paige and Northie won't stay still, this time they were really hurting. I sighed, I couldn't wait until they came out. 

I decided to call Niall. ring. ring. ring. He finally picked up. 

"hi hailee." he said, not haiz? thats odd.

"hi." I say, trying to sound cheerful.

"so about the text.." Niall jumps in straight away.

"I love Shawn." I say as fast as possible. I hear a sad sigh from the other end.

"okay." Niall says down the line. 

"sorry." I say, I know what it feels like to be denied by your love.

"Its fine.." he says, sighing. I knew it wasn't.

"friends?" I ask him.

"no." he replies. 

"what?" I say. were we not going to stay in contact? 

"not friends, best friends." he tells me, fake laughing.

"don't do that niall! I thought I was going to lose you!" I scream at my phone.

"sorry." he says, jokingly. I smile.

"retardd." I call him, jokingly. I hear him laughing from the other end.

"your cute.." he says, ending the call.

I gasp and put down the phone. Shawn comes in. "I heard that." he tells me. I avoid eye-contact with him. "so he likes you?" he asks me. I nod, still avoiding eye-contact. "do you like him back?" he asks me, lowering his voice. I stare at him in shock. "no!" I say, still in shock. Shawn comes and sits next to me. "I love you." I tell him. "If you do, come cuddle me." Shawn says, winking. Instead of a cuddle, I give him a kiss on the lips. Shawn smiles. "I still want that cuddle!" he tells me, pouting with his arms out. I chuckle and fall into his arms, absorbing his warmth.

beep. "thats my phone." I tell Shawn, groaning. He lets go of me as I reach out to grab my phone. "its Niall." I look up at Shawn, "he said, if anything happens to you haiz, tell me, I'll always be there for you baby." Shawn gripped my hand tight. I let out a sigh. "what's his number?" Shawn asks me, after a few minutes of silence. I tell him his number and Shawn dials him. 

ring.ring.ring. Niall picks up. "what do you want?" Shawn asks, quietly. "nothing." Niall replies, innocently. Too innocently. "stop texting haiz." Shawn says, I smile at him and then bite my lip. "we're best friends." Niall replies. Shawn tuts. "best friends don't call each other baby do they?" Shawn asks, he was so good at this.

"we're close best friends." Niall says, aggressively. "well, haiz doesn't like it, so please stop." Shawn replies and looks at me to check if thats what I want. I nod in approval. "yeah right." Niall scoffs. I sigh loudly. Loudly enough for Niall to hear me. 

"haiz?" Niall says. I stare at Shawn. "she doesn't want to talk to you." Shawn says, understanding my stare. I shake my head, I didn't want to do this but its about time I man-up. "pass me the phone." I tell Shawn, smiling. "you sure?" he whispers. I nod, biting my lip. 

"Niall, please stop texting me." I say, after a deep breath. Shawn gave me a thumbs up for support, he knows how bad I am at this stuff.

"What..?" Niall asks, looking for an explanation.

"there are plenty more fish in the sea." I tell him. 

Niall yells words he's never called me before. Words so painful that I'd had to block him on every social media. Words so aggressive that Shawn met up with him in private, yelling so hard at him.

and those words were,

"your an ungrateful bitch, you mother fucking piece of shit."
