"Where are you going?" Grayson asked as he passed my room and stopped in the doorway.
"Uh I don't know. Class? I mean its kind of the reason I'm here." That was bitchy. "Sorry, I'm nervous," I said picking some things off the floor before putting my shoes on.
"Why are you nervous?" he said taking a bite of whatever he just pulled out of his pocket.
"I'm nervous that it'll be hard and that I'll be distracted by everything around me and I won't be able to focus and I'll fail." He just stared at me blankly and played with something on my dresser. "Usually this is where you say, no you're not going to fail, you're smart!"
"Yeah sorry I have a lot on my mind."
"Like what?" I asked picking up my bag and looking in the mirror one last time before leaving the room.
"I don't know. Never mind," he said looking back at me. "Well, I'll be at the warehouse today but when you get back from your classes we can get something to eat."
"Actually I told Bryant I'd come by his apartment after. It's on the way back anyway." He just nodded his head awkwardly.
"Then I guess I'll just see you...after that." I nodded my head waiting for him to get the hell out of the doorway. "Oh sorry," he said stepping aside.
"Wish me luck!" I said already tripping and running into the edge of the end table. "Shit."
"You don't need it," he said laughing. I ran down the steps and out the door before realizing...I don't know where the hell I'm going.
I had officially ended my first day as a LA college student. The class didn't seem that bad. Oh wait, yes. Yes it fucking did. I already had an essay due and I didn't even learn anything yet. I got a taxi all the way to Bryant's apartment building. I walked in the front and the doorman greeted me and asked who I was visiting. Then he escorted me to the elevator and sent me up. Fancy shit, Bryant. Fancy shit. I got up to the door and knocked to the tune of "One Thing".
"What were you trying to do there? That was horrible," he said laughing when he opened the door. I hugged him and he stepped aside to let me in.
"I've had a long day, homie," I said tossing my bag on the couch and sitting, resting my head on the back of it. This is a really nice place. Not extravagant but humble and also somewhat messy but it made me feel at home.
"Why did you have a long day?"
"Umm college is hard," I said like a valley girl. "And my professor looks like he swallowed the entire royal family and he walks like he has a flag pole up his ass and I didn't even learn anything and he wants me to write an essay on Shakespeare? Like, I just want a social life and you're not going to make this easy for me!" I said it all really fast and rambling and then just covered my face with my hands.
"Hmm...so what do you want to eat?" I just laughed really hard and got it all out of my system. That's the thing about Bryant; you could be so stressed out about everything and I don't know how he does it but he makes you forget everything.
"I don't know you choose. You know I'll eat everything." So everything is exactly what he got. Chinese, pizza, fried chicken, AND ice cream. We were sitting on his living room floor eating it even though he has a kitchen table 5 feet away. "You're going to make me so fat."
"I don't think that's possible."
"HA! You just wait. Ben will go to my right thigh while Jerry prefers to go straight to my left." He laughed and grabbed another piece of pizza. "Fuck," I said and he looked up.
