"Listen, I'm going back to—"
"What? You're what?" I said cutting him off.
"I said I'm going home to—"
"You're going home to what?" I said trying not to laugh as I egged him on.
"Listen yo what I'm saying!" And I burst out laughing.
"There it is," I said playing around. Then it clicked in his head. 'It' being the ability to make James Charles snap in under a minute.
"Oh you're an asshole," James said laughing as we talked on the phone. "Like I was saying before you started being a child, I'm going back to see my family tomorrow and staying the weekend and I want you to come with me."
"This is so sudden. Meeting your family is big. Do you think our relationship is ready for this big of a step?" I asked eating my chips and crunching them obnoxiously.
"Shut up. My mum wants to meet you. She's just happy when I refer to my 'special friend' that it's actually a friend and not a boyfriend," he said half laughing.
"So I won't bring my Ricky Martin CD's? Damn," he ignored me as usual and told me to pack and then hung up.
I heard the front door close and keys being thrown on the glass table in the foyer. Someone's angry...that means hot. "Hellooo," I said dragging my voice out.
"Yeah," I heard back from the echoing hallway. He walked into the kitchen with that glare.
"What's wrong?" I asked wiping my hands on my pants from all the chip grease.
"Nothing," he said releasing his facial tension and smiling.
"Fake smile but whatever," I said giving him one back.
"It's not fake I swear. See," he said batting his eyelashes and pointing at his dimples. I shrugged and he asked, "What are you doing this weekend? Any plans? Oh and I've been meaning to ask you. Have you made any friends yet?" He was teasing me.
"Whatever, dude. I'm actually spending the weekend with James in some cabin somewhere I don't know. Super romantic, right?" I said and watched his face lose expression. "I'm kidding." He pretended like he knew the whole time and tried to fake laugh it off. "Well not kidding about spending the weekend with him but more like his family."
"Oh yeah...yeah," he said shaking it off. I just laughed at him for being the most awkward human being in the world. "I'll probably just stay here...maybe invite some friends over."
"You should get some action..." he gave me a weird look, "movies to rent. God you have such a dirty mind."
"Yeah, I have the dirty mind. You talk worse than most of the guys I know."
"I have to go pack," I said walking past him and smiling. I didn't know what to pack so I just threw a whole bunch of shit I probably wouldn't even use (like a towel...who showers anymore am I right?) into a red bag that looked like a diaper bag and threw it in the corner. I took out the bag of M&Ms from a week ago out of my side table and ate them. That pretty much summed up the rest of my night.
"It's really early, do you know how early it is?" I said getting into the car with my sunglasses on and my chocolate milk in my mug, wrapped up in a sweater so I looked like Lindsay Lohan getting over a hang over. Except I was wearing underwear.
"It's 12 o'clock in the afternoon," he said putting the car in drive. I never drove with him before. He just got his license a few months ago and so we were in the Tesla. I looked around approvingly. "You better not spill that," he said glaring at my mug.
