"My name is Zelda Hyrule, pleased to meet you! I just transferred here from Hyrule academy and I hope I can be your friend! Ugh, no that's too formal" I facepalmed. Practicing these lines in front of Impa would be different from the class. Anyways, she just sat there politely and I've known her for years! She wasn't someone new! Hyrule high wasn't as prestigious as my previous school but my dad wanted me to go there to learn about the 'common folk' as he calls them. It was my last year of high school and I transferred each year, why couldn't I stay at a school for at least two years?!"Zelda, why don't you practice in the mirror like I said?" Impa suggested, snapping me out of my thoughts.
"That's too weird!" I whined back. We had an argument on this over breakfast and I did not want to start it again.
"Just try it. Zelda you've gotten nowhere."
"Alright Impa, I'll do it because you're always right and I have nothing else to try. Just give me some pointers... please?"
"I'm sorry Zelda but you'll have to tackle this yourself. I'm not going to be by your side after today. Midna is going to be your dormmate, why don't you ask her?"
"Thanks Impa, I needed you to wake me up," I giggle and pull her into a hug, burying my face into her white hair,"I'll miss you."
"It's not goodbye yet Zel! Just come and visit like you said!' The strict instructing in her voice was gone and there was a twinkle in her red sheikah eyes. I loved her, she was like a mother to me.
"Now get up there and practice young missy!" She playfully ordered, and I felt her hands push my back lightly up the stairs, giggling all the way.

I picked up my phone from my bed and called Midna as Impa said.
"Yo Zel!"
"Stop trying to sound hip its not like you!"
We're both giggling and hearing her laugh easily makes me happy.
"You're transferring to my school right?"
"Same reasons why you did..."
Midna went silent on the other end of the line. We both knew our parents were touchy subjects.
"Sorry Midna. Hey can you help me?"
"Sure what do you need help with?"

I walk down the stairs feeling nervous. I don't know what to expect? Will they make fun of me for being smart? For being eloquent in my daily speaking? I make it to the last few steps and I see a hand waving and a flash of red. My father was there. I rubbed my pinky finger, rubbing my fingers over the tightness that had become so familiar, remembering my mother. My mother was my father's soulmate and when she disappeared without us knowing. We didn't assume she was dead because no string formed on my father's thumb, within a few days of her departure, on his particular "tight spot" as it was called. I could remember his cries when the string started appearing, showing she was in danger of losing her life, before he was cold and withdrawn to the world. When the string formed fully, within weeks the public started calling him the "Stone President" and in a month he was replaced as he drifted away from sanity.
"Zelda." He addressed me by my full name, all love and pet names gone, "You'll start your observations soon." I tried not to glare at him for wording it as if it was a mission.
"Yes father." He always scowled at me calling him 'dad' or 'papa' after my mother's death and I still don't understand why. He motioned to Impa and some maids brought my luggage into the expensive black car. I honestly just wish we had a more casual car so we wouldn't make a fuss as I arrived.
I got into the car, glancing back at the pristine white mansion, trying to ignore the fact that my father had turned around and gone inside, his hands at his back, but his right hand hidden so no one could see the string.

I arrived at the school, kids gawking over the luxury ride, trying to get a peek at my face. I purposely buried my head in a book, Impa sitting right beside me, talking about it to calm my fears. I did this every time I transferred... apart from the fact that at my other schools, everyone else was rich and had cars like this so they wouldn't surround me like ants trying to get a crumb of food.
I got out of the car with Impa and headed straight for the principal's office with her, occasionally muttering out 'excuse me' and 'sorry'. They followed close behind me but learned to not get in my path, some even offered to show me to the principal's office but I politely declined as Impa already knew the way around.
We reached the principal's office and people were fighting over the window to get a better look at me.
"I'm sorry, let me get these papers first." A man with fiery red hair, dark skin and a pointy noise said with a deep and gruff voice. He looked like he should've been commanding armies instead of serving as a principal at a public high school. The bell rang and he creepily smirked, excusing himself and walking to the door in three big strides. The children backed off and looked terrified. I was almost sorry for them. They scattered, their mission of catching a glimpse of me all but dissolving. The principal smirked again, and walked back to the desk to sit down.
"I'm Mr. Dragmire. Ganondorf Dragmire. Pleasure."
"Impa Shadows, this young woman here is Zelda Hyrule."
Dragmire didn't stick his hand out for us to shake and I was honestly confused.
"Please, lets drop the formalities," Dragmire continued. "You know you'll be sharing a dorm with Midna Twili, right?"
"Yes, and I've talked to her already about sharing the room and rules."
"Good, I'll call her up to show you around and you'll have your schedule here. No need to attend classes today, we'll get you all set up tomorrow as I already have too much work today. Please just relax and unpack in your dorm, the same will go for miss Twili, who will be out of classes today to show you around... You might need a disguise, this school is gossip central."
Mr Dragmire laughed a bit, Impa and I joining in to be kind. His face turned a bit more serious after.
"Ms Shades, as her caretaker, please insure she is settling in well."
"I couldn't live with myself if I didn't!" Impa spat back, her malicious tone very, very subtle.
Mr Dragmire's red eyebrows shot up and looked taken aback. He noticed her tone?
"I'm sorry, anyways," he swivelled in his chair to turn on the intercom. "Midna Twili to the office please. You aren't in trouble."
He apologised and went back to signing papers, his brows furrowed.
"Zel!"
Midna burst through the door. I stood up, moving forward to hug her.
"Ms Shadows! It's nice to see you again." Midna visibly straightened.
"Please call me Impa, and please, no need to act formal, I'm basically your second grandmother!"
"You're not that old Impa!" I giggled, resting my arms around Midna's neck, Impa also coming up and wrapping her arms around both of us.
"Ahem..."
We all turned to Mr Dragmire, forgetting he was there. He was smiling, which was very weird...
"I'm happy that you all seem to be great friends. Midna, please show Zelda to your dorm and around campus. You're dismissed, goodluck."
We exited the office, the last thing on my mind being Mr Dragmire's creepy smile.

A/N: I literally have ZERO inspiration for the first few chapters but I already thought of ideas for later chapters in school... Godbless the sticky notes we're required to have...
Thx for reading the first chapter... Its fucking trash, I know. I can't guarantee it gets better...
