Chapter 14 💃🏼

Kai rings on the doorbell at 6:30pm and my Uncle Max opens it. He's extremely polite and tells my Uncle that he's taking me to attend the school's football game tonight.

My Uncle lays down the law to make sure he'll bring me back unharmed and not impregnated. This makes me laugh and I thank him for thinking of me.

I'm happy that my dad's brother gives a damn about me, because his own brother hasn't tried to contact me since I've been here. Neither has my Mum.

I walk out to Kai's car wearing Blake's Jersey, a black jacket and a black pleated skirt. I notice him frown at my top but I did tell him, so he better not comment on it.

I climb into the passenger seat and buckle my seatbelt.

"Elise, I just wanted to apologise again for being such a douche. I had no right to talk to you the way I did." Kai says and I can tell he's being sincere.

"It's fine, honestly. You don't need to apologise." I smile and he starts the engine.

As we drive to the football game, he puts his hand on my bare thigh and circles my skin with his thumb. I get the same tingles on my skin and my breathing speeds up.

The dark streets are illuminated by lots of cars headed in the same direction we're travelling and I know a lot of them will be attending the football game.

My Uncle Max explained to me earlier how important the high school football is in this small town. He said that a majority of the people who live here go along to support the team.

Then he said he'd heard a rumour about me and the quarterback being together. I told him Blake Coleman and I were just friends. Then he actually winked at me and said, 'yeah, if that's the story you're going with'. I was mortified.

We pull into the car park and Kai shuts off the engine.

"Can I ask you something?" He says and I get a strange vibe from him.

"Yeah."

"Did you have sex, with Blake?" He asks and it actually sounds sinister. I swallow hard and face towards the windscreen.

"Yes." I tell him, quietly.

He punches the steering wheel so hard that it makes me jump and my breath catches in my chest. I sneak a look at him and see that he's got his eyes closed tight.

"Why the fu*k did you sleep with him?!" He screams at me.

I slowly slide my phone out of my jacket pocket with the intention of phoning for help. I only manage to swipe the screen across before he catches me.

"Put that away!" He shouts at me and I hurry to put it back.

"I did it because he needed my help." I lie and I see Kai turn in his seat from the corner of my eye.

"Why?!" He shouts and I gulp in fear.

"His team mates were being shi*ty to him for being a virgin. I wanted to come to Rock port to help people and that's what I'm doing."

"So you screwed him to help him out, huh?! You just fu*king loan out your body?!" His face is terrifying me. He looks nothing like his usual self.

I nod and the fear is causing my eyes to water. I close my eyes and a tear falls down my cheek.

Kai punches his steering wheel again and grabs hold of my arm. He grips it so tight that I know it's going to cause bruising.

I will not go through this sh*t again. Dan was enough and he nearly destroyed me. I lift my head up, wipe the tears from my eyes, open the car door quickly and sprint away from his car.
