Blake and I ended up spending the rest of the weekend together, mainly at his house. We spent time making plans to ask Ben and Lydia to homecoming. I know it was a bizarre idea but I think it'll be a good thing for all of us.

I spoke to Ben and told him my idea during our lunch break in school on Monday. He was amazed that I'd be willing to ask him, even if it was just as a friend to boost his status. That kind of tugged at my heart and I gave him a long hug. People around us did the usual gossipy whispering but I told him to ignore them.

Blake changed his status's back to single and just as I suspected, Whitney descended like a vulture. I giggled all the way through our morning break in school, as she kept trying to get closer and closer to him by the lockers. He was continuously inching away from her, until she got the message and walked away with a scowl on her face. I winked at him when no one was looking and he rolled his eyes at me.

Blake spoke to Lydia and although she was sceptical about his motives, she agreed he could ask her to the dance as a friend. He told me she was stuttering and getting flustered talking to him, but I told him I'd speak to her so she feels better. I need to think of a way to boost her confidence.

We've decided that I should ask Ben to homecoming first and then Blake will ask Lydia.

It's Tuesday afternoon and I spoke to Lydia at lunch. I explained that I was in on the homecoming plan and invited her over to my house after school. I told her I'd like to help her with plans for the dance and she seemed excited. She's really shy and does tend to stumble over her words quite a bit, but she was smiling more than I've ever seen.

I meet Lydia at the school car park and she's shuffling from foot to foot. Her short blonde hair is framing her face perfectly and she has a ruler straight fringe. Her skin is quite pale, with a smattering of freckles across her nose and her eyes are a bright blue. She's actually really cute and I have no idea why she's so shy.

"Hey, Lydia, are you ready to go? We'll go and hop into my cousin Jack's car."

"Y..yes." She stutters and I link my arm through hers, leading her across the car park.

Jack's already in the drivers seat, dancing like a lunatic to a 'Panic! At the disco' song blasting from the stereo. His dancing can only be described as some kind of a fit and I roll my eyes, as I open the back door for Lydia.

Jack turns to peer over his shoulder, smiles at Lydia and raises his eyebrows at me. He turns the loud stereo down as Lydia climbs in and I get into the passenger seat.

"Lydia's coming home with us today. We have a few things to do for school." I tell him and he nods, starting the engine.

We drive along the streets filled with students walking along the pavements and I turn in my seat to look at Lydia. She's fiddling with her fingers and looks incredibly nervous.

"Lydia you look petrified. We're really not that bad, I promise. Are we Jack?"

"Well obviously I'm the nicer person out of the two of us. You're a bit of a bit*h." He says and i'm quick to smack him around the back of the head.

"Oww, you see my point?! Beastly bit*h!" He exclaims and Lydia starts to laugh. I think the little idiot just helped me break the ice. I'll thank him later...by poking him in the eye.

We pull up outside the house and I let Lydia out of the back seat. Blake is leaning against his car in the driveway next door and he waves me over with his hand.
