The Taxi pulled up outside a caravan, it was near this sort of forest, a few smaller caravans scattered around it, the living room light was switched on, a late night talk show was blaring on from inside.

I took out my keys and quickly turned them in the lock, the door swinging open with a low groan, I hauled my bag over my shoulder and walked inside, closing the door behind me.

Sophie was sitting, curled up in her pyjamas with a hot cup of cocoa in her hands, Lawrence was busy reading a book and Jackson was watching the TV.

"Same ol family huh?" I said as cheerfully as I could, Kian used to call us The Family, we were a group of people where no one told you what you can and cant do, we all trusted each other with everything.

Sophie put down her cocoa, the wind whistling violently from outside, she pulled me into a hug, quietly sobbing into my coat, I patted her back, it hurt to see her like that.

Everyone joined the hug, all of us sniffling like babies "We all sound like little girls" I said chuckling through my tears, they all laughed before pulling away.

"We should get going" Sophie said pulling on her coat, "The Pier closes at midnight and it's Half Ten now" She gave me a warm smile before opening the door and holding it for us.

We walked down to the pier and Sophie opened up a vase that had Kians ashes in them, Sophie scattered some of them on the sand before all of us took a handful, said our last goodbyes and throwing them off into the moonlit sky.

The wind gently blew his ashes away, I shed a few tears, he was finally free, he was safe now in a place he loved and had so many great memories of.

"You know" Lawrence said as we sat down on the beach watching the waves gently crash against the sand "Its time I told you the truth about me and Kian" Sophie nodded.

"Kian was" Lawrence sighed and sniffled a little "Kian was pansexual" he looked up into the stars "We were together" I stared at him in disbelief, "I was afraid to admit to you all that we loved each other but now I wished that I wasn't so afraid" He wiped a tear from his eye.

"All he ever wanted was to see the day that I told you guys about us" he curled up in a small ball, letting the wind blow his hair gently.

"Blackbird singing in the dead of night" Lawrence whispered gently, his eyes still closed, his face in his knees "Take these broken wings and learn to fly"

He looked up at the sky, tears streaming down his cheeks, the sound of waves crashing in the background
"All your life, You were only waiting for this moment to arise"

Sophies gentle voice sang the next verse "Blackbird singing in the dead of night" Her voice was trailing off after realising that Lawrence was no longer singing with her but came back.

"Take these sunken eyes and learn to see. All your life.  You were only waiting for this moment to be free" Jackson joined in.

"Blackbird fly, Blackbird fly" Lawrence joined in with both of them "Into the light of the dark black night"

"Blackbird fly, Blackbird fly" Jackson wrapped his arm around Sophie as they looked up at the moon, swaying in each others embrace.

"Into the light of the dark black night"
They giggled to each other, my throat was dry, I swallowed as much as I could.

"Blackbird.. singing in the dead of.... night" My voice was trembling, they all looked at me "Take these broken wings and learn to fly, all your life you were only waiting for this moment to arise"

All four of us sang together in unison, with linked hands a picture of Kian in Sophies lap "You were only waiting for this moment to arise, you were only waiting for this moment to arise.."

We all sat there in silence, looking at the picture of Kian, We stood up finally, all four of us walked towards the sea, I stood there looking at my reflection in the water, my hair tangled and messy, my eyes bloodshot and my face red, I looked like I was ill.

"Bye bye Bubba" Sophie whispered kissing Kians face before placing the picture in the water and letting it float away, we stood there watching Kians picture battle against the waves before finally drifting off to sea.

"It's like his life" Sophie whispered "The waves are the problems and challenges, he was so close to defeating them but he couldnt take it anymore"

She looked up at the sky again and sighed "The calm bit is Heaven, him finally at peace" My heart broke again, I never knew how much I missed Kian.

We walked back up the cliff top, our only light was the moon, the sound of crickets in our ears as we continued walking, I looked back down at the pier and where we were just sitting.

I looked up at the brightest star in the sky "Goodnight Kian" my breath hitched in my throat "I-I m-miss you" I held my hand up to the sky and blew it a kiss.

I sprinted to catch up with Sophie, Jackson and Lawrence.
