Primrose

“Good morning Miss Clark” said the maid as she drew the curtains open. Primrose Clark slowly removed her eye mask and let her eyes adjust to the sunlight pouring into her room. She smiled her greeting to the maid who then left the room. Primrose walked to the windows and took a moment to enjoy the warmth of the light, while doing so; she played with the locket on her necklace- it wasn’t anything more than a little square locket that didn’t even open but it was a gift from her mother…One of the few reminders she once even had one. She ran a finger over the simple North Star design engraved onto it. From the central part being a small diamond, to all 8 lines leading in different directions. Another few seconds of basking in the sunlight passed before she made her way to the bathroom.

One cup of black coffee and a bowl of cereal was already on the kitchen counter when Primrose came downstairs, she wore an outfit that looked pretty basic but was also clear that it was very expensive. “Is there anything else you need Miss Clark?” asked the maid. Primrose swallowed the last bit of her coffee, “Is the driver on his way?”. “Already outside and waiting Miss Clark”. Primrose stood up, neatened her clothes and took her purse, “Then that will be all, thank you”, she then made her way outside.

Dante’ and Sergio

“Dante’!!! Get in the car!” yelled Sergio above the sound of him hooting. Dante’ Bhakshi, partially dressed, raced outside- his sling bag getting stuck in the front door as he closed it, he yanked it out and got into the car, chest heaving. Sergio laughed. “It’s still so early man”, Dante’ groaned as he looked at his watch. “I know…But look at you…The athletics department better watch out”. Dante’ rolled his eyes but couldn’t resist a laugh. “I’m only kidding…But if you want to make my final year the best, join the track team” Sergio said with a laugh. “Shut up” Dante’ said as they drove off.

Austin and Andrea

“Good morning everyone!” said Andrea Jordan whilst spinning into the kitchen. “Morning sweetheart” Mrs. Jordan smiled weakly. “Ready for today?” Mr. Jordan asked from behind his newspaper. “Absolutely! I’m so excited! But where’s Austin? I don’t want to be late” Andrea said through mouthfuls of breakfast. On cue, Austin walked in, car keys in hand, “Ready to go?”. Andrea nodded and rushed outside, “Bye mom, bye dad” She called out. “Bye sweetheart” Mrs. Jordan called back before turning her attention to Austin, “What about breakfast honey?”, “I’ll get something from the Academy, don’t worry”, he planted a kiss on his mothers cheek. Mr. Jordan put down his newspaper and removed his reading glasses- they did well in concealing the bags underneath his eyes from too many restless nights, “Be nice to her, okay son”. Austin gave the faintest of smiles, a quick nod and then left.

Kristen and Kyrene

Kristen Lennox tucked her blonde hair behind her ears and continued to rummage through her backpack, “Books, pens…oh lunch!” she said out loud. “You don’t need lunch, you can get food there” Kyrene said whilst leaning on the doorframe. “You sure?”, “Well, I’ve only been there two years already” Kyrene said with a laugh. “Argh! You’re so lucky, why can’t it be my first day of final year” Kristen mumbled. “You worry too much sis, day one of first year will be just fine and the rest of the year will be tons of fun! You’ll see”. Kristen smiled at that response. The sound of a bus approached. “That’s our cue” Kyrene said whilst leaving. Kristen grabbed her backpack and followed.

Daniel, Jason, Carmen, Emma, and Paige

“It’s going to be epic!” Jason Lee said whilst running his fingers through his golden brown hair. “Epic is an understatement my friend” Daniel West corrected. “Are you two ready?” Elysia Graham directed at Jason and Carmen Maronelli. “Of course!” Jason blurted out. “Have to be…I guess... Are you ready for your final year?” Carmen responded. “Been looking forward to this since I started at the Academy…but hey, don’t be so nervous about this. When I was in first year, I thought everyone would be out to get me- including Elysia and Daniel, as it turns out, they felt the exact same way towards me, and now look, we’re the closest of friends” Paige Nole said to Carmen. “Yeah but this is such an elite university and…well…how many people would associate themselves with a scholarship kid?” Carmen asked. Daniel laughed, “You think the only reason we’re all friends is because we’re scholarship kids? Sure, our backgrounds aren’t as fancy as 90% of the people there but that doesn’t mean we’re charity cases…scholarships are also based on grades and that’s why we’re all here, even you” Daniel ended off with a big grin. Carmen smiled and nodded, as the academy bus approached.

Colton and Aster

“Mr. Winters…Mr. Johnny is waiting for you outside” said the doorman. Aster Winters straightened his tie and went downstairs, “Thank you-tell my parents I said bye will you?”, “Of course Mr. Winters”. Aster joined his friend Colton outside, “When will he ever call me by my name? Using my surname makes me seem so old”, Aster laughed, “If he doesn’t even call me by my name- I doubt you’ll ever be more than Mr. Johnny”. Colton agreed, “Your folks here?”, “Yeah, they’re still asleep…another late night”. Colton nodded his understanding, “Well then, after you Mr. Winters”, Asters mood picked up immediately, “Thank you, Mr. Johnny”, he said as they got into the car and left.
