Violet leaned her head on her hand, a cold breeze blowing her white blonde. She heard Tenn's laughter behind her, along with AJ's squeal and Ruby's chuckle. The sound of the leaves rustling and the crickets chirping calmed her.

She had learned to appreciate the sounds she heard more and more each day. You could see more with your ears than with your eyes, in a way.

She smirked as she heard familiar footsteps behind her. Clementine. Two calloused yet soft hands covered her eyes, followed by a playful giggle.

"Guess who?"

Violet smiled, turning around on the bench to face her girlfriend. "I can't see, so there's no reason for that."

Clementine quietly sighed, moving so that she was sitting beside Violet on the bench. "How are you feeling, Vi?"

Three months had passed since they escaped the Delta. Three months had passed since Violet lost her eyesight to one of the raiders. It was quick, and all the other kids stood around, helpless to what was happening to their friends. Clementine felt especially guilty.

You could still see tiny specks of dried blood around the light pink scars the knife had left.

Violet frowned, exhaling through her nose. "I don't know. I don't feel anything."

"It's weird, y'know? I can't tell what color I'm seeing. Most people would probably think black but....it doesn't feel right. It's in a gray area, no pun intended," she paused, earning a quiet chuckle from Clementine. Violet's expression turned solemn.

"I'm still not used to waking up in the morning. I keep expecting to see the light coming in from the windows or seeing the chair scrapes on the floor. But it's like a punch in the gut every morning. Hell, half the time I don't even know if it is morning. I'm just....floating in space, not tied down by time or a sense of direction. Mostly because I have absolutely no sense of direction."

Clem and her shared another laugh before Violet's face contorted into an almost fearful grimace. "Dreams are the worst part. I can't see, I can only hear. I can hear walkers groaning. Screaming. Rushing water, waiting to drag me under. Then I wake up," she paused, a small smile making it's way on her lips. "And you're there beside me. And then it doesn't matter that I can't see. Because I can still feel and hear and smell."

Clem felt touched by this. A noise escaped from her throat, somewhere between a laugh and a sob.

Clem took Violet's hand in her's, placing it so Violet could feel her face. "I could've done something. I should've done something. Then you could still see the colors of the leaves and the stars and the sunset and-

"-and if you did do something, you would be dead." Violet interrupted. "Clementine, I don't regret anything. I would go through the pain again if it meant all of my friends were safe....if it meant you were safe."

Hot tears rolled down Clem's cheeks, her heart swelling with gratitude. Violet brushed away the tears with her thumbs, pulling Clementine into a hug. Clementine softly wept into her shoulder, taking shaky breaths.

"It's okay. I'm okay. I'll be okay.." Violet kept repeating into Clementine's ear.

Violet pulled away, putting her hands back on Clementine's face. "I still remember."

Clem blinked back her tears, taking a shaky breath. "Remember what?"

Violet grinned as she remembered every little detail on Clem's face. "I remember all the details on your face from when I would look at you. I remember all the small freckles that dot your cheeks and the color of your eyes. The color is a dark caramel that turns a honey gold in the sunlight. All the little scars and scratches on your face that nobody would notice unless they looked hard enough. The way your nose scrunches up when you're concentrating,"

"How you scratch the back of your hand when you're nervous. I remember the sparkle in your eyes when you would laugh and I remember how when you smile, it's genuine and you mean it and Clementine, I love you so much, dammit."

Violet took a deep breath before continuing. "I love you....so much, you fucking idiot."

Clementine flashed a smile, resting her forehead on Violet's. "I love you too, you dork."

"This is the part where I'd normally kiss you, but I don't know where your lips are." Violet said, a nervous chuckle falling past her lips.

Clementine giggled, pulling Violet into a short, sweet kiss.

Violet smirked. "Now, your lips.....I'd know those anywhere."

"Shut up." Clementine demanded playfully, connecting their lips again.

"Get a room." A voice playfully chided from the other side of the courtyard. Louis.

Violet huffed, holding her hand out. "Clem, hand me a good sized rock."

Clementine raised her eyebrows in surprised, hesitantly handing Violet a rock.

Violet grinned, closing her hand around the stone. "Hey, Lou?"

"Yeah?" He called back. She aimed towards where the sound was coming from.

"Think fast!"

"Wha- OW! Vi, what the hell?!"

Violet smiled. "Bullseye."

Clementine smirked as she saw Louis's expression. She tapped Violet on the shoulder. "Um.....Violet?"

"Yeah?"

Louis's footsteps got louder as he ran at Violet. "Behind you."

"What?"

Louis picked Violet up by her waist, throwing her over his shoulder. "This is what you get, Vi."

"Louis you fucking bit- OWOWOWOWOWOWOW DON'T TUG ON MY HAIR, YOU ASS!"

"Don't throw rocks at me- HEY!"

AJ walked over to Clem, weirdly captivated by Violet and Louis's fighting. "Clem, what are they doing?"

Clementine shrugged. "I wish I could tell you, buddy."
