Back to School Once Again

I woke up the next morning hearing the front door shut. I sat up in bed and got dressed for school. I walked downstairs and saw a note on the counter.

Dear Y/n,

        We headed out for work early this morning. We hope you have a good day at school. We'll see you later tonight. 

                                                                         Sincerely, Mom & Dad

I set the note back on the counter and started making F/b. It didn't take long to make. I ate and started heading towards the school. It was a nice peaceful walk until I heard my name being called.

   " Kitten! Y/n! Wait up! "

I turned around and saw Gene running towards me. I rolled my eyes at the nickname he gave me.

   " Hey, Gene. "

   " Hello, there kitten. Thanks for waiting for me. "

   " Names Y/n. You know that so stop calling me kitten. "

   " I don't think I will Kitten. " He said with a smirk. 

   " Why?"

   " Cause it irritates you. Plus it matches your personality well. "

   " How does a kitten match me at all? "

   " Well, the best reason is that you have claws. You use them whenever you can. Like now. You're trying to defend yourself. "

   " You shush! Shouldn't you be driving to school? I thought you were a senior. "

   " I am a senior but I Prefer walking instead of driving. "

   " If that's what you say. "

We got to the school and walked up the front stairs to the building. I heard the first bell ring.

   " Well, it was nice walking with you Gene, but I have to get to class. "

   " Or you know you could ditch. "

   " I'd rather not. I'm not like you or the other Shadow Knights. I don't ditch. I actually care about my education. "

   " Sucks for you kitten. "

   " Why don't you actually go to class for once? "

   " Cause I'm too smart for these dumb teachers. It's not like they're going to help me further my knowledge when I know more than them. "

   " Alright. I can't convince you. But I'm going to go. See ya. "

   " Bye, kitten. "

I walked into the school and I saw a certain white-haired boy. 

   " Hey, Travis! "

He turned around and faced me. A small blush made it's way to his face. 

   " H-Hey Y/n! "

   " Why are you stuttering all of the sudden? "

   " No r-reason. "

   " Okay. Ready to go to the first class? "

   " Yup! "

We started walking towards our first class ( Low key forgot the classes entirely along with the people in them and I'm too lazy to go and look. ). When we got there I sat beside him and saw Aphmau walk into the class.

   " Hey, Aphmau! "

   " Hey, guys! "

She came and sat beside Travis. We all kept talking until the bell rang. The teacher walked into the classroom and started teaching the lesson. I sat there taking notes until a paper ball landed on my desk. I looked to my right and looked at Travis. His eyes found mine and then went towards the paper ball.

   ' He wrote something on it? Didn't he?  '

I put my pencil down and unfolded it. 

How was your weekend?

Good. How was yours? I wrote. 

I tossed it back to him. It landed on his desk perfectly. I saw him scribble something on it and tossed it back to me. I caught it and opened the paper ball. 

It was fine. I hung out with Dante at his house.

That sounds like fun. Is he still giving you lessons?

I tossed it back to him. I looked up at the teacher and he looked at me.

   ' Oh no. '

   " Ms. L/n what is the answer? "

   " Ummmmm 64? "

   " Correct! "

Then he turned back to the board and kept teaching the lesson. I looked down and saw the paper ball sitting right in front of me. I opened it and read what he wrote.

Nice save. Yes, I ma taking lessons from Dante. I need them. I can barely talk to anyone without stuttering or not sounding confident.

Travis, you don't need his lessons. You are you. We are only freshman. I can understand why you stutter and don't sound confident, but that's just something you grow and learn to control. You're still learning.

I tossed the note at him. It hit him softly on the side of his head and landed on the desk. the bell rang and I gathered my stuff to walk to potions. I stayed with Travis until he was ready to leave the class. 

   " Thanks, Y/n for the advice. I'll think about it. "

   " Good. You don't need his lessons. "

   " This is my stop. "

   " Alright. See you later Travis. "

   " Bye, Y/n. "

I continued walking to potions. When I got there I got my brewing station. I saw Lucinda standing at hers beside me. I turned towards her and we started talking.

   " So Lucinda how are you doing today? "

   " Not to bad. The day has been fine. How about you? "

   " It's been goo-"

   " LUCINDA! "

We turned towards the classroom doors and I saw Katlyn standing there soaked in water from head to toe.

   " Woah. What happened Katlyn? "

  " This witch right here doused me in water! "

   " Lucinda? "

   " What can I say? I had the opportunity. "

   " You two are going to be rivals forever aren't you? "

   " Not until She stops messing with me. "

   " Actually it's not until you stop growing your ego! "

They continued to bicker as I sat at the station.
