Gene

His hand gripped mine tight as we jogged through the crowd. I saw his black hair as we ran.

   ' Is it Gene? '

Once we were through the crowd we stopped jogging and started walking. As I walked beside him I could confirm that it was Gene. 

   " Where are we going, Gene? "

   " Just on a walk kitten. "

   " Okay, but don't you want to stay back with the group? "

   " Nah, Laurence would jump me if I pulled any moves on you. So it's better to walk out here. "

   " That's an understatement. He would kill you. "

   " That's right kitten. "

We walked in silence along the shore until I came up with something to ask him.

   " How are Zenix and Sasha? "

   " They are doing well. I'm glad we got them together. It's been a while since we did a plan. We need to do that again. "

   " Yeah. It was fun. "

   " We could do more of it if you joined the Shadow Knights y'know. "

   " Laurence warned me about joining. I don't think he or Aphmau would be too happy about that. "

He stopped walking and pulled on my hand. He pulled me closer to him. I felt his arms wrap around my waist. When I looked up I saw his dark blue eyes look at my E/c orbs. His eyes glinted with mischieve. 

   " Well, they don't matter. It's your choice, not theirs. Plus I feel like you would love to be a part of our group. Plus Sasha could use a friend that's a girl in the group. "

   " I'll think about it Gene. "

   " Well, maybe this would convince you more. "

Quickly he pulled me as close as he could and I felt one of his hands leave my waist and hold the back of my head. I felt his warm lips on mine. It was soft, but I could feel the passion in the kiss. I closed my eyes and kissed back. What felt like hours was actually minutes. When he pulled away I felt the hotness come to my face.

   " G-Gene? "

   " Yes kitten~"

   " You d-did the f-f-fireworks. Di-din't y-you? "

   " I didn't do that kitten. That was someone else. That's why I took your hand and brought you away from the crowd. Someone was going to confess tonight and I wanted to beat them to the punch. Y/n I love you okay. When I met you I thought you would be a new pet to play with, but at the mall, I had so much fun with you and I started to like you. I had never felt that way about anyone until we did that. "

   ' He called me by my name. He must be serious about this. '

   " Then when you got sick I wanted to punch whoever did that to you. No one should be bullying you for something like that. Then after I saw who did it I took care of it. "

   " What? "

   " Yeah. I told you they would get what's coming to them and I showed them the video. I told them if they didn't leave you alone Karma would come for them. Did they not leave you alone? "

   " T-They did. "

   " Good. Y/n I love you. I can't give you F/c fireworks with your name in it, but I can give you something no one else can get. That's me. Take it or leave it. "

   " Gene-"

   " Y/n!" 

I looked over and saw Garroth and Lucinda running towards us. When they reached us I looked at Garroth and asked,

   " What's up, guys? "

   " We were looking for you. Everyone has gone back to the condo," he said.

   " Okay. "

We started walking back to the condo. While we walked there it was quiet. I talked with Garroth on the way, but Gene and I were silent to each other. We got to the condo and I walked into my room. I saw Katlyn, Aphmau, and Kawaii~Chan already asleep. I grabbed my pajamas and went into the bathroom to change. Once I was done I looked in the mirror.

   ' I need to talk to Gene. '

I walked out of the bathroom and went towards the living room. I saw the light turned on in the kitchen. I went towards the kitchen and saw Gene standing there with a cup of coffee.

   " Hey, Gene. "

He nodded at me and didn't look me in the eyes. 

   " Gene we need to talk. "

   " I don't think we do. "

   " I do. So let's talk. "

He set his cup down and looked me in the eyes while crossing his arms.

   " Look Y/n I understand that you don't feel the same. But I don't need you telling me straight to my face alright. So go on back to your room and go to sl-"

I walked up to him and interrupted him with a kiss. I pulled away but kept my face close to his.

   " Gene for the leader of the shadow knights you aren't good at listening to others. "

   " How can I argue with that. "

    " You can't. "

   " That's right. Does this mean you are joining the Shadow Knights? "

   " What do you think? "

He smiled at me and he leaned into for another kiss. I gladly returned it.
