He Stood Me Up

   " And that's all for today class. You may leave. "

I packed up my stuff and stood from my seat. Aaron stood up beside me and collected his stuff too. 

   " Want me to walk you home? "

   " Sure. "

We walked out of class and downstairs. We went through the school and towards the front doors.

   " So, Y/n... do you have any plans for the summer? "

   " I don't. Why? "

   " Well, I was just wondering about your plans. So we could hang out during summer. "

   " Sounds fun! "

We got to my house and said our goodbyes. I walked inside and changed out of my uniform. I walked downstairs in my fresh new clothes and sat on my couch. I started playing my favorite movie while eating my favorite snack. I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket. I pulled my phone out of my pocket and saw Garroth texting me.

Garroth: Hey, Y/n.

You: What's up Garroth?

Garroth: I was wondering if you wanted to come to meet me in the park?

You: Sure. I'll be there in a few minutes.

Garroth: Cool!

I stood up from my couch and put my shoes on. I walked out of my door and started on my way to the park. It was a good day. Not too cold and not to warm. Perfect weather. A lot of people would be in the park. When I got to the park I didn't see Garroth anywhere. I pulled my phone out and texted Garroth.

You: Garroth where are you? I'm here. 

Garroth: I'm a little late.

You: Okay. I'll wait.

I found a seat on one of the benches and sat down. I sat there waiting for Garroth. But....

....he never showed up.

I kept texting him and calling him, but he never answered. It was starting to get late. So I decided that I would leave.

   ' I never thought he would stand me up. '

I felt sad and felt tears prick my eyes. I didn't let them fall. I'm not going to give him the satisfaction of wanting me to cry. I started leaving the park until I bumped into someone.

   " Sorry. "

   " Kitten? "

I looked up and saw Gene standing there. Looking at me with curious eyes.

   " G-Gene? "

   " Kitten? What's wrong? What are you doing in the park? It's late. "

   " Nothing you need to concern your self with. "

I walked around him and started heading towards the opened gates. I could feel Gene's worrying gaze on my back. 

   " Kitten! "

A hand grabbed my arm and pulled me back. I was turned around and faced Gene. He held my arm so I wouldn't walk away.

   " Gene I'm fine. "

   " Well, you don't look fine. "

   " ... "

   " Y/n please tell me what's wrong. " He said with his voice sounding calm.

I looked up at him. He never calls me by my name. He always called me ' kitten '. His eyes showed true concern. 

   ' Laurence must have been wrong. The Gene he described isn't like the one I've talked to and gotten to know. '

I nodded my head and pulled his arm towards the same bench I sat on. I sat on the bench and Gene sat across from me. He sat on one of his legs and was facing me.

   " Tell me from the start and don't leave anything out. "

I nodded again.

   " I went home changed and Garroth texted me and wanted to hang out. I said sure and came. I waited but he never came. He said he was late. I decided to leave. I never thought Garroth would stand me up. He never seemed like that type of person. "

   " Well, kitty some people are like that. Their fake friends. The get something out of you, but you never get anything in return because they never liked you. "

   " I know, but I didn't think..." 

   ' I didn't think he was like that. ' I finished in my head.

I stared at the ground and thought about our friendship. I never gave him anything though. What would he gain from this? I felt myself being pulled forward. I was pulled into someone's chest. Gene pulled me into a hug.

   " I'm sorry you had to go through it. "

   " What would he gain from this though? I never gave him anything. "

   " Probably because he wanted to trick you. Decieve you. Wanted to make you a fool. "

   " Well, he got what he wanted. I'm a fool. "

   " You are not a fool kitten. " He said hugging me tighter.

I hugged him back and laid my head on his chest taking the warmth he shared with me. 

   " He's the fool for standing you up. You don't deserve him. "

   " Thank you, Gene. "

   " Anything for your kitten. "

We sat there for a while hugging each other. Then I finally let him go, but he didn't let me go.

   " Gene? "

   " You shouldn't have let me hug you. Cause now I don't want to let go. "

   " Well, you're going to have to. I need to head home. "

I pulled away from him and stood up. He stood up with me and smirked at me.

   " No. I think I'll take you out. Since you were stood up. I'll do what he couldn't do. "

   " And what is that? "

   " Make you smile and happy. Let's walk around the park and enjoy the stars. "

   " Shouldn't it be closing soon? "

   " A guy owed me a favor. "

   " I see. "

   " Yup. So let's go kitty. Follow your master when he calls for you. "

   " You're not my master. "

   " That's what you think. "

We started walking and I walked beside him. He grabbed my hand as we walked.
