Rehearsals were going well, last night they had set through Blue, and Bette would be lying if she said it wasn't the most enjoyable thing she had done so far. Tonight they were going to be singing through Fight For Me and Me Inside Of Me. But right now, Bette was facing a different problem. She had accidentally set fire to her school skirt. She wasted no time running out of her class, because how the hell do you accidentally set your skirt on fire in English? And she was now in the bathroom trying to put it out, getting soaked in the process.
"What the actual fuck?" She whispered once she had put it all out.
A squeak escaped her as the door opened to reveal none other than Dick Grayson.
"This is the girl's bathroom," She said, "You know, females only."
"I couldn't help but notice you come running past my class, skirt aflame," He said, "You okay?"
"I'm fine now," She lied, "It's all out, see," She held up her skirt, making sure not to show too much skin.
"Honestly hold your skirt as high as you want," Dick smirked, "I've seen it all."
"TMI," Bette breathed, "TMI."
"Well, as long as you're okay," He said, "I'll let you be," And he headed off.
Bette looked at herself again in the mirror, letting out a sigh. Freak accidents happen, it's Gotham. She turned away from the mirror just before she managed to see the ends of her hair catch fire and dim.

Bette sat in the stalls as they started filing in for rehearsals, and the first thing she noticed was the tension in the room. The glares Babs was sending at Dick, and the closeness between Zee and Dick. Something had happened then.
"Hey Babs, Artemis," She called and the girls came to sit next to her, "You two okay?"
"No," Babs replied shortly but it was Artemis who explained, "Dick, the actual dick over there, declared his love for Babs at the gala."
"So you're going out now?" Bette asked, "Congratulations."
"Don't jump the gun," Artemis cut in, "He's going out with Zatanna now, the night after. I can't actually believe he'd do something like this. I thought of all the rich snobs, he wasn't a snob."
"Oh," Bette didn't know how to respond to that, "I'm sorry."
"Don't be," Babs said, "I shouldn't have fallen for his act."
Bette turned around to look at Dick and Zee, only to find the latter on his lap, kissing. She quickly turned back, turning red. She personally couldn't believe he'd do this either, he had always seemed so nice at school, the only genuine male there. She guessed she was wrong. But did she hate him for it? Yes, he shouldn't have the right to hurt someone like that.
"Bette, Bette!" She jumped back to reality as Artemis screamed her name and looked down to see she was on fire again.
"I've got to go," She said and ran out of the hall and to the bathroom.
Not again, not again, not again.
She looked at herself in the mirror, she didn't understand. How had she set on fire again? There was no reason for her to have, no fire hazards nearby. Why wouldn't it just go out? Her eyes widened in surprise as it did just that. What if... what if she was a metahuman? She stumbled back as the thought occurred to her, what if? No, she couldn't be. And why wouldn't it have shown earlier? She shook her head to clear her thoughts. She couldn't go back out there, she had burnt through her clothes to the point she was fairly immodest. She fished her phone out of her pocket, thankfully it looked untouched which was a surprise but not a bad one, and phoned Artemis.
