Agad na dumiretso sina Andrius at Gretel sa hospital kung saan isinugod si Celina. Agad naman nilang nakita si Nanay Mel sa harap ng operating room kasama ang isang maid at driver.
"Nay Mel! What happened?!" Andrius asked them nervously.
"Naglilinis kami sa kusina ng makarinig kami ng malakas na kalabog. Tinignan namin kung saan yun at nakita na lang namin si Miss Celina na nakahandusay sa baba ng hagdan at puro dugo." Ninenerbyos na tugon nito. The maid rubbed her arms to calm her dahil medyo may katandaan na rin si Nanay Mel at hindi mabuti dito ang ninenerbyos.
"Hindi pa rin ba lumalabas ang doctor?"
"Hindi pa sir, kanina pa po kami naghihintay---"
And in a cue, bumukas ang pinto sa operating room at lumabas na ang doctor na nakasuot ng scrub. Agad namang lumapit si Andrius dito.
"Doc! Kamusta na po siya?!" Andrius asked him.
"Kayo po ba ang kamag-anak ng pasyente?"
"I'm her guardian."
"Stable na ang kalagayan ng pasyente, kailangan pa namin siyang obserbahan in case magkaroon ng internal bleeding dahil nabagok ang ulo niya, we'll be transferring her to a private room."
"T-Thank you Doc." Andrius sighed. He brushed his palm on his face due to frustration. Napalingon siya kay Gretel who is on the side looking at him worriedly.
His heart clenched. Agad siyang lumapit sa asawa para yakapin ito.
"I'm sorry baby." He whispered to her. Gretel brushed his back and slightly tap it.
"It's okay. Don't stress yourself too much."
"Umuwi muna kayo, ako na muna ang bahala dito." He said to her at bumaling kina Nanay Mel para ihabilin si Gretel.
Gretel silently clenched her jaw. She understands him, he felt responsible because the accident happened in their house. He is her guardian for the meantime and he is responsible for anything that may happen to her.
Pero hindi niya maiwasang masaktan.
She can't even tell him that she's pregnant because the happiness he will see from him will not be pure, a happiness mixed with different kinds of negative emotions.
A kind of happiness that she can't bear to see.
She wanted to share her pregnancy with him na walang halong problema, walang halong responsibilidad sa iba. Just the two of them enjoying it.
Kung nalaman man niyang buntis siya, he will be thorn between taking care of Celina, or taking of Gretel, but knowing Andrius he will do both, he's that kind of responsible man. But Gretel doesn't have the heart seeing him tired of trying to do his obligations.
