I walked into class, scared as ever. Then it happened, the teacher silenced the class and looked at me.

"Class, we have a new student. I know it's a free day but let's listen as she introduces herself a little, okay?"

There was a chorus of 'okay' and 'yes' as they shifted their gaze to me.

"Um...I'm Y/n, I am 17...I'm a junior and um...well that's pretty much it." I said that last part with a little bit of a sad tone but I don't think anyone cared enough to notice it.

"Thank you Y/n. So today we are having a free day so feel free to do whatever as long as it's appropriate and don't leave the class without me knowing."

"Yes ma'am" I responded

I walked to a desk in the back of the room. I slowly started to pull my phone out and then put it on my desk when I noticed everyone else had their phones out and it was okay.

I ignored all of the texts my best friend sent me, I know we aren't ever going to see each other again. I opened my music app before plugging in my headphones and clicking shuffle.

I got my book out and started reading, about five minutes into it a boy came over and sat in front of me.

I paused my music and looked at him

"Hi, I'm Jonah"

"Y/n"

"So...where are you from?"

"I don't wanna talk about it"

"Come on, you can trust me"

"No, I can't you. I've been hurt so I don't trust anyone"

"I'm guessing that has something to deal with why you moved?"

"yep" I replied and looked down, eyes watering.

"Sometimes it helps to talk about it" Jonah spoke up

I looked up at him, he looked sweet and cute...looks friendly

"Fine, my boyfriend cheated on me, but he tried to get me to do illegal things and when I'd say 'no' he would get abusive. Luckily one night my best friend was there or I would've been dead...But the only reason my best friend was there was because he knew that my boyfriend was cheating on me with a drug dealer and he wanted to make sure I didn't get hurt because I truly loved my ex boyfriend" I waited for Jonah to start telling everyone, but he didn't...

He sat there and just let it all sink in before he sighed and looked me in the eyes

"So your best friend, the person you trusted the most, lied and spied on you and your boyfriend, the person that is supposed to love and never hurt you, broke your trust so much that you can't trust anyone anymore?" Jonah quizzed to prove he was listening and it left me slightly shocked that this stranger could understand me so well

"Y-yes...you're the first person who actually understood that."

"Well, I've been in a similar situation" Jonah smiled

And from that day on, we were best friends, who then turned into boyfriend and girlfriend, who turned into husband and wife, who turned into grandparents together, and finally...we were laid to rest right next to each other at our gravesite.
