I couldn't help but notice his phone light up every second, he was getting text after text. He didn't seem to notice though, his head was still being held up by his hands.

I looked over at the counter, to see a girl who I'm friends with, her name is Lara. She gave me a confused look, I shrugged my shoulders and gave her a half smile before bringing my attention back to the blue eyed boy.

He was repeatedly tapping his foot off the ground, making a clicking noice from the floor. It was around 5:00 and the coffee shop doesn't close until midnight. We were the only ones in here, and it was very quiet, but occasionally the tapping of his foot would fill the air with noice and he wouldn't notice. He knew I was here, but I don't think he cared.

After awhile he sat up, leaving his hands placed by his sides, he was still tapping his foot slightly but it calmed down after a while.
I spent all my time watching his every move, I know it sounds creepy but I don't know anything about him, who he is and why he's upset which I found slightly intriguing.

I was itching to know why he had frustration and sadness in his face, why he was tapping his foot constantly, why his phone would go off nearly every minute and why he was here, of all places in houston.

I was mainly focusing on his facial expressions and how they quickly they change from being sad one minute to being frustrated the next, and I wanted to know why but I don't think he'd talk to a stranger, but I could give it a shot.

I quietly got up out of my seat, trying not to let the guy notice me or hear me. Stepping on the floor, it creaked slightly, I think he noticed because I could see he flinched but ignored me.

I tiptoed over to the counter, Lara looked at me and smiled before I pointed to the back door to the kitchen area, she followed me out.

"Hey Lara, would you mind making a cup of coffee?" I whispered, as she nodded.

"Do you know him?" She asked before turning to make the coffee.

"No, but I'm going to try and talk to him." I explained even more quiet, hoping he wouldn't hear that part.

"Oh, well I hope he talks, he looks pretty upset." Grabbing the milk out of the fridge, she gave me a hopeful smile.

"Me too, he really looks upset." I gave her a worried yet hopeful look, she gave me a small smile before handing me the coffee.

"On the house." I gave her a hug before thanking her and leaving the kitchen.

When I left I looked around, before seeing him sitting in the same spot, this time with his head hung low.
I made my way over as quiet as I could, basically walking on my toes.

I looked back at the counter, half way over, Lara was standing by the little window separating the counter from the kitchen where the orders are sent through. She gave me a smile before giving me a thumbs up. I looked back and started making my way over again.

There was a chair opposite of him I decided to sit on, carefully placing the coffee on the table before making myself comfortable in the chair.
He still hadn't lifted his head, so I slid the coffee closer towards him.

He lifted his head slightly, making it easy to see his bright blue eyes.
His eyes were a bit red and puffy, he gave me a blank look before I spoke up.

"It looked like you needed it." I gave him a small, kind smile.
He narrowed his eyebrows at me before realising what I had meant, he didn't  give me a smile but his lip curled a bit showing he tired to smile at me to say thank you.

"I didn't know if you drank coffee, I kind of just guessed." I said rambling on with a shy voice.

"T-thanks, I d-do," he said with a stutter in his voice as he spoke after he had a sip of coffee and setting it back on the table.

I noticed him reaching in his pocket, searching for something, I observed as he was searching, trying not to let him notice, I didn't want to seem nosey, especially now when I'm going to ask him if he's okay.

He took out a brown wallet, it took me a few second to realised what it was and why he was searching it, I quickly jumped when he took out a five dollar bill, refusing to take it when he held it out to me.

"You don't have to pay me, I could see you were upset, I know how that feels, I go through it just about everyday, I thought a coffee could help." I explained while I played with with my fingers worrying that he would think I'm a freak.

"Are you sure, it's nothing really?" He gave me a kind look, tilting his head more to the side.

"The coffee is really nothing, don't worry, but are you okay, I know you don't know me and I don't know you but I know how it feels to go through a pretty hard time, but I couldn't help notice how upset you were." He gave me a small smile after I finished my sentence, I gave a smile back.

"Yeah, it's been a horrible day. I seen something I wasn't meant to see but It was probably best to see it, ya get me?" He said with relief and irritation in his voice.

"Yeah, I know what you mean, I stay here for hours, this place doesn't close 'till midnight, do you want to talk, I have time, unless you have somewhere to be." He looked a bit unsure at first, it took him a minute to think about it.

I can see why he had to think about it, I mean I am a stranger and it is a bit strange that I'm asking him to confess his emotions to me and we don't know each other, but he gave me a smile before answering.

"Yeah—I'd actually love to talk about it.
What's your name by the way?"
I hadn't even thought about names, I was too caught up on what was wrong.

"My name is Hazel, what's yours?" I asked as he took another drink of his coffee.

"My name is Geoff."

A/n:
Ahh! I actually love this chapter, I'm happy we're now getting introduced to the main characters, there will be another chapter talking about what the situation is if anyone thinks it will just end there (the situation).
