chapter twenty-six

The lights went off, and the noise died down, but confused and panicked whispered filled some of the silence.
Geoff and Otto were still standing on stage looking at each other, but then looked at me with wide eyes. I shrugged in confusion along with them.

A crew member came on stage with a mic, he was nervously holding it as he spoke into and explaining to the crowd that Awsten just needs a five minute break and the show will continue.
I let my camera hang around my neck as I went backstage, along with Geoff and Otto.

"Hey, where's Awsten?" I asked Travis, as Geoff and Otto came behind me.

"I'm not sure, crew are looking for him, what's up with him, he's been acting off all day?" He asked, I shrugged quickly.

I knew he's been upset, I mean he was crying to me just last night, but I don't know why he froze and ran off stage.
I shyly smiled, trying to make the situation a little less hectic. Geoff wrapped an arm around my shoulder, I took his hand in mine and squeezed it.

"Should we go help, he'll probably only talk to yous?" I suggested, Travis nodded, leaving me, Geoff and Otto.

"Yeah, we should probably go look for him." Otto smiled at us as he lead us down a hall where there were loads of rooms.

We each took turns in searching a room, they were all just supply closets for equipment, but we didn't find Awsten. I heard Geoff's phone ring from another room and so did Otto, as we both jumped out of the room we were in, going to where Geoff was.

"Hey, hey, Awsten slow down." Geoff reassured Awsten.

Otto and I looked at each other and then back at Geoff who had one ear closed to avoid the crowd noise. I folded my arms as I examined Geoff's words.

"I told you I thought I saw her, j-just—wait—where are you?" He stuttered, as he frantically tossed his arm around.

"Okay, just please stay there—no we won't tell management." He whispered the last part before hanging up.

He took a deep breathe before explaining what was happening, Otto and I stared at him in confusion, we had no clue.

"Cayla was in the crowd. I told him at the start that I thought I saw her; in the crowd, but he refused to believe me. He must have spotted her in crowd when he playing and just couldn't handle it." Geoff frantically said.

"What about management, where is he?" Otto asked, growing frustrated as he kicked his foot off the ground.

"You know he can't tell them they broke up, hee doesn't want us to tell them. He's at the bus, he told us to call off the rest of the show." Geoff mumbled, pushing his phone in his back pocket as Travis came in.

"Hey, did you find him?" He asked, coming up to us.

"Well he called me, he's at the bus, he saw Cayla." Travis gulped harshly as his eyes opened wide.

"Should we tell–" I quickly cut Travis short.

"We can't tell them about him and Cayla, he doesn't want us to tell them."
I explained.

"Should we say he felt sick?" Otto suggested, and we all nodded before leaving to find someone working.

We walked back to the side of the stage, where carly and other crew members were frantically scattering around looking for Awsten and trying to keep the crowd calm. Once Carly saw us all walking up towards her, she quickly ran to us.

"Please tell me you found him?" She begged, checking her phone every second.

"Well, he called us, he's like really sick, he told us he was about to faint." I explained to calm her nerves but not ours.
