Rose continued climbing up, in pursuit of the Doctor above her. Her hands gripped the ladder tightly, the strong gravity a constant thought in the back of her mind. She dared not to look down.
Excited, she looked up. She blinked, surprised, upon seeing that he was no longer on the ladder above her. Looking around at the sheer cliff, she wondered where he had gotten to. He certainly hadn't fallen into the mist below. She would have heard him. Besides, he was chasing after a Yarin, which was a lower life form that was in danger. It had followed them on to the TARDIS, unbeknownst to them. Then, they arrived on this planet and discovered the Yarin had followed them. The mouselike creature (although it was green and covered in red spikes that oozed liquid whenever it was scared) dashed away into the brush. The Doctor had taken off in pursuit, knowing that the atmosphere was lethal for the Yarin.
So, they found themselves climbing a ladder (it was extremely tall and they had no idea why it was there) as the Yarin scrambled up the sheer cliff face.
Rose climbed up the ladder to where she had last seen the Doctor and looked at the side of the cliff when she heard his voice. There, she found a hole that was just big enough for a person to climb inside that was hidden from below.
"Come here, Yarin!" She heard the Doctor cry out from inside, his voice echoing. She rolled her eyes, but she couldn't keep the small smile off of her face.
Rose climbed inside of the hole, wondering why she was even following the Doctor into a dark, scary hole. She crawled along, her palms hurting from being squashed into the rocky floor.
"Almost got him!" She heard the Doctor's voice again. A small blue light shone down the tunnel. Rose picked up her speed until she was right behind the Doctor, who was crawling quickly after the Yarin, which was a few yards ahead.
"Doctor, hurry up!" Rose cried. Despite the urgency in her voice, she didn't stop herself from gazing admirably at his bum.
With a jerk forward, the Doctor had the Yarin inside of a glass container that would filter the air for it. The Doctor and Rose relaxed, sitting back for a moment as they caught their breath. The Doctor looked back at Rose in the dim lighting and winked at her. She grinned, knowing what he was thinking.
Before they could do any more, the floor fell out from beneath them. Rose shrieked. The Doctor instinctively grabbed Rose's hand. In the moments they fell through the void, he slipped the Yarin in its glass container into his pocket.
With a thud, the Doctor landed on Rose. She groaned dramatically, but the Doctor could tell she was teasing him. To get back at her, he pecked her lips with a quick kiss before jumping up and examining their surroundings. Rose looked up at him, frustrated. She grumbled about how much of a tease he was.
They were inside a cave. There was no visible exit, other than the straight drop they'd just fallen. There was a stream that entered through a tunnel only big enough for the water to flow through and exited the same way. However, the holes were still rather large, despite being full of water.
The Doctor scratched his head with confusion. He looked back at her innocently, not missing her eye roll. He held out a hand (a smirk on his face) and helped her stand. She brushed off her pants and looked around.
"I think we're going for a swim," the Doctor said from where he crouched down by the water hole. "From down here, I can see the outside of the mountain. We just have to hold our breath and ride the water out."
Rose looked at him fearfully, not liking the idea of being stuck in a mountainside underwater. He smiled reassuringly. The Doctor walked up to Rose and put a hand on her arm to comfort her.
"I promise, we'll be fine."
With a shove, the Doctor pushed Rose in. She shrieked, barely remembering to hold her breath before she entered the water-filled tunnel. Then, darkness and cold water. She began to panic, frantically feeling along the walls as she passed. Then, before she knew it, she saw light above. Swimming up, she reached the surface.
She took a deep gulp of air in and looked down to where the tunnel was. After a moment of nothing, she saw the Doctor's feet pass through. Then he was treading the water next to her. She allowed herself to smile, giggling when he splashed her.
"I told you we would be fine," he grinned.
"That doesn't excuse you teasing me and then pushing me in!"
The Doctor rolled his eyes, saying he knew she would be fine. Before pushing her in, while she wasn't looking, he had done a scan and knew that the passage would be safe.
She splashed him in his face.
After a large water fight, the couple swam to the edge of water. On the bank, the Doctor's face fell.
"The Yarin!" He frantically reached into his pocket, drawing out the glass container that held the little creature. It looked scared, but it was fine. "Thank goodness," he sighed. "Let's get him back to his home."
And they did just that.
Once the little guy was safe with his kind and that TARDIS was in limbo, the couple took some time to themselves.
"You weren't very nice to me today," Rose fake pouted. The Doctor rolled his eyes as he dramatically fell onto the couch next to her.
"You expected different?"
She slapped his arm playfully. "Yes! As a matter of fact, I did!"
The Doctor just grinned at her evilly. She sighed. Then, she smirked as she had an idea.
"I'm going to make you pay for teasing me and pushing me in the water," she said, her voice low. The Doctor visibly gulped, his eyes not leaving her lips as she sat up to face him. He began to ramble an explanation, but she shushed him and straddled his hips.
And let me tell you, she made him pay.
