Rose looked down at the rare Cristo diamond set into a band on her ring finger. She grinned, remembering how she and the Doctor had gotten married not a month ago. She remembered their short vacation on a beach planet, which had been their honey moon. The Doctor loved her, but being his restless self, could only stay for so long. She laughed to herself, remembering his short attention span when adrenaline was not pumping through his veins. Did Time Lords run on adrenaline? Or was it something else? Thoughts of her grade school biology came to mind, but she never really learned anything from that class.
She sighed and finished brushing her teeth. She looked at the tee she was wearing, which had "I love space" written on it. She giggled at the wedding gift from Mickey. It was definitely clever.
Rose quietly opened up the bathroom door, knowing that the Doctor had gone to bed before her. She had needed a shower, bad, and insisted he go on to sleep. He didn't often sleep, nor really, but she had seen the exhaustion on his face.
A small smile formed as she saw her husband on the bed through the dim light. He was lying on his side, facing away from her.
She jumped when he suddenly turned onto his back, a frown on his face. She heard him mumble something too quietly for her to hear. His legs thrashed for a moment in the bed.
"Rose!" He cried, his hands grabbing the duvet in a tight grip. She ran forward, jumping onto the bed.
Grabbing his shoulders, she shouted, "Doctor! Wake up!" She shook him. He moaned in his sleep, but, finally, his eyes opened. His forehead was covered in sweat.
"Rose!" He gasped, pulling her down into a tight hug. "You're okay!"
"Of course I'm okay, you big goof!" She exclaimed from where she was being smothered against his chest. "I need to breathe!" Her voice was muffled against his body.
She felt him chuckle before he let her go. Good, she had lightened his mood.
"What did you dream about?" She asked after a moment. He frowned.
"You... you were falling. And I couldn't catch you. I lost you." He looked so broken. Rose thought she saw tears in his eyes. Her own began to build, but she blinked them back.
This time, she was the one who hugged him. "Oh, my Doctor. Don't worry. You won't ever lose me. I'm here for good."
He just grunted, pulling he closer.
"I love you." She said with a smile, kissing his chest through the shirt he wore.
"I love you, too, Rose Smith." She giggled at her name. "I always have, and always will. From 'run' to now... you are my universe, Rose Tyler. You are my everything."
And with that, they both fell asleep, nightmares forgotten.
