Chapter 16

Cordelia's p.o.v

The fog had killed a few of our people so that just confirmed it was poison. Now we have to worry about the grounders and this stupid fog. After being trapped for the night I needed to do something so I was in the drop ship helping Clarke with medical stuff.

I was just finishing giving Jasper something to keep his strength up when there was a commotion out side. I ran out side with Jasper right behind me, everyone was crowding around something, or someone.

I pushed through to the center to see Finn crouched down beside Wells. He was examining the boy who wasn't breathing and had a stab wound in his neck. "What happened?" I asked as Bellamy pushes through the crowd.

"He was found like this," Finn states before standing up.

"Was it a grounder?" Jasper joins in falling into the spot next to me.

"No, this was found next to him," Finn says holding up a knife with the initials J.M on it and all eyes fell on Murphy.

"Woah, I didn't kill him," he says holding his hands up in surrender but some people didn't believe him.

"Well you had it out for him since we got here," someone says and people begin to agree causing a fight to breakout.

Two people began to grab Murphy and dragged him out of the circle and over to a big tree. Someone began trying a noose out of a large rope.

"He needs to be punished for what he did," this guys says wrapping the rope around Murphy's neck and throwing the other end over a tree branch pulling him up into the air.

Murphy struggled to breathe against the rope and thats when I couldn't take it anymore. I walked over and grabbed the guy by the neck and flung him to the ground and Murphy fell back to the ground. He wasn't the far for it so he landed on his feet and took the rope off his neck.

"Everyone shut the fuck up and listen to me. Murphy may be a dick, but he wouldn't kill anyone. Beat them up over a grudge he had on them yes, but that's all. I agree he's done some awful things in his life but to accuse him of killing someone just shows me how inhumane you all are," I state looking over at everyone.

"Half of us were put in jail for actual murder, should they die too? People who openly admitted to killing someone are walking amongst us but we aren't punishing them, so why decide to punish someone who could've easily been framed," Nobody said anything as I continued my speech.

"Someone could've taken the knife from his tent while he was sleeping, then used it to kill Wells leaving the knife for us to find and blame it on him," I say and some people give me dirty looks.

"You're really taking his side, after what he did to you. After everything he did to you, he broke you, humiliated you for years and now you're taking his side," someone says in an angry tone making me mad.

"First off, none of you know the real story because it has never been told, lastly have you ever heard of the saying forgive and forget. Yes I got taken to the skybox and yes I'm not supposed to be here I'm an illegal child. Fortunately I was allowed to attend school on the ark, allowed to live my life and still learn everything you all did while in the skybox. I've had lots of time to forget about the past and live in the present. Something that happened years ago shouldn't stop me from eventually forgiving those who wronged me. Yes Murphy turned me into Jaha which got me taken from my family. But here I am years later and my family is by my side once again," I inform looking over at my brother.

Suddenly a girl stepped forward "He didn't kill Wells," she says with a guilty look.

"Do you know who did?" Clarke says and she nods.

"I did it,"......

Ok wow I didn't think it was going to be this long but now you all know why Cordelia hates Murphy. More of that will be explained in hopefully the next chapter but I hope you like it and thanks for reading.
