Chapter 18

Cordelia's p.o.v

After what happened yesterday things settled down a bit. Everyone seemed to be getting along fairly well, and Jasper is back to full health which made me really happy. However, he didn't want to leave the safety of the camps walls. Afraid something bad might happen to him again.

Octavia was doing her best to get him to at least step just beyond the gate. It was going well until some jerk grabbed her which freaked out Jasper but he recovered quickly once he saw that she was alright.

The boy that grabbed however got kicked in the nuts which caused him to drop to the ground in a nanosecond as he groaned in pain. He deserved it though for scaring my brother. Jasper needs sometime to eventually leave the camp, but baby steps are still helpful.

After bringing Jasper back inside I decided to make a trip to collect berries since we were running low. I was just about to leave when my name had been called.

"Cordelia," I heard and turned around to see Bellamy. Great just what I need, more bossing around from him, not that I listen to him anyway. He's been nothing but a pain in the ass since we got here.

"Can I help you freckles?" I state turning around and grabbing my bag.

"Murphy is going to come with you," he says and I frown.

Oh this is just great. Why would he make Murphy come with me? This is going to be torture.

"Are you trying to lose a camper? You do know that we don't get along," I point out being a bit dramatic.

"I know but we all have to get along with we want to survive," he simply states and I sigh.

"You and I don't get along and we're surviving just fine," I sassed causing him to shake his head.

"I'll let you have food without taking you're band off," he negotiates but I'm not budging.

"I can easily find food myself, plus I take food when you're not around," I admit and he glares.

"Its final, I already asked him to accompany you," he confirms and I sigh in defeat.

"Fine freckles, but one bad word from him and he's getting smacked," I inform before picking up a knife and placing it in my pocket.

Murphy walks up looking all mean and short tempered "I don't like this anymore than you do," he says as Bellamy walked away, a hoard of girls trailing behind him.

"What a man whore," I say and Murphy laughed.

"You could say that again," he says watching Bellamy lure these girls into his tent.

We began walking across camp when Finn walked up "Be careful," he says with a serious look.

"If worse comes to worse I'll use Murphy as a shield," I say and Finn gave me the no man left behind look.

He kissed me on the forehead then Murphy and I continued our berry picking stroll. We were a few feet away from camp when he opened his big mouth "So you and Collins huh?" He says giving me a nudge but I glared at him.

"It's none of your business John," I say as we approached a bush of blueberries.

"So you really forgive me for what I did?" He asked cutting away branches so we could get to the blueberries.

"I do, we were 14 and not the most responsible," I say looking over at him and he sighed.

"I never should have told, I was angry because my mom yelled at me because of a bad test score and I took my anger out on you," he was about to continue but I cut him off.

"You don't have to apologize John, if you hadn't told on me then I wouldn't have been taken to the sky box, or be here on earth. Do you remember what my biggest dream on the ark was?" I say and he looks up at me.

"To live on Earth," he says and I smile.

"Yeah, you made my biggest dream come true," I say putting the last of the blueberries into my basket.

"I heard about what happened to your mom. I'm sorry that happened to you," I say giving him a sad look.

He shakes his head "It's alright. She just couldn't take the loss of my dad, it pained her so bad," 

"It's still an awful thing to have happen," I state and we left it at that.

We moved onto a new bush, this one was blackberries. It didn't take much time to fill a few baskets of each berry and we were making our way back to camp.

To get back we had to cross this small ravine, it has some boards lying across it so we could get back and forth. Murphy went first with all the baskets, then it was my turn to cross. I was almost across when my foot slipped, my heart raced as I felt myself falling into the pit.

My life flashed before my eyes as I thought this was the end for me. Then all of a sudden I felt someone grab my hand and I was yanked back onto the board.

I was breathing really hard as I looked up to see Murphy let go of my hand "You saved me," I exclaimed as we walked back across the board.

"If I let you fall your brother would kill me, Collins would kill me and Monty would kill me. Also then I wouldn't be able to tease you about Collins," he states and I laugh.

"You're right, Jasper would kill you," I say giving him a playful nudge.

We walked back to camp to see everyone scattered into their specific friend groups, looking kinda like those high schools we read about on the ark.

We put the berries in the food storage shed that we built when we first landed here then went our separate ways, the sun was beginning to set over the horizon as I made my way to my tent.

As I entered Finn was curled up on the make shift bed, fast asleep. I smiled before taking off my shoes and lied down next to him and pulled my blanket over me.

I curled into a ball hugging my homemade pillow, knowing that when I wake up in the morning Finns arm would some how be around my waist, making it really difficult to get up without waking him up.....

So chapter is a bit longer than usual which is nice. So Murphy and Cordelia are on the way to repairing their friendship and had I nice bonding moment and Murphy even saved Delia. I hope you like this chapter and thanks for reading.
