Cross smiled as he saw his beloved Nightmare from across the room. He knew that Nightmare downright hated him, and he could care less. Nightmare was the most beautiful monster he had seen. As long as he had Nightmare in his sight, everything would be okay.
Nightmare must have noticed Cross staring, since Nightmare awkwardly shifts away from the uncomfortable, piercing gaze from his subordinate. Cross decided to snap out of whatever trance he was in, and sighed. Nightmare was beautiful, sure, but he really didn't want to loose him. Cross got up and left to find something to do, putting his anxieties of the most beautiful being he had ever seen leaving him.
Cross had no need to throw on a jacket before he stepped outside into the harsh January winters, he was perfectly bundled up with his multiple-layered monochromatic uniform. He felt an uncomfortable feeling in his chest, but he just assumed it was because of the monster that hasn't stopped haunting his mind. He had been obsessed with his clearly uninterested boss ever since they had their first fight, which was a while back. Around when he joined the team five and a half years ago. There were so many others he could've fallen head over heels for, his five other coworkers, Nightmare's assistant, but supposedly, it had to be the boss himself.
The crunching of his feet against the snow was starting to get annoying, but Cross's thoughts had been screaming at him too loudly to be more than a mildly annoying, reoccurring sound. It was uncomfortable how Chara would always annoy him with teases, manipulation or complaining, but Cross's mind was a whole new issue.
Cross almost didn't hear the rapid crunching behind him. As soon as the sounds registered in his head, he pulled his knife out, swiftly turning to the loud sounds. He put the weapon away once he saw a little boy, running to him while crying. Cross had always been a softie for children. The young looking skeleton slammed into him and sobbed uncontrollably into his chest. He was shivering intensely as well, and Cross instantly worried for his safety.
Cross and the young child were soon in Cross's old home. Cross quickly teleported a blanket to them, and wrapped the crying child in it, before bringing him back into a hug, gushing him softly.
Eventually, the kid seemed to calm down. He pulled away from Cross, his puffy, purple-eyed sockets gazing up at the caring skeleton in front of him. Cross wouldn't bring it up to the boy, but he sounded very familiar.
"M-mister.." he sniffed. "W-what do you d-do when you l-love someone?"
Cross was expecting a lot of questions, but definitely not that one. It took a couple of seconds for him to formulate a coherent explanation to tell him, but he knew it was at least a decent answer.
"Sometimes, it can be scary to be in love. Especially if you don't think they like you back." Cross told the kid. "But it's a good idea to tell them about it. If they don't like you back, it will hurt, but it's good to at least try." The kid smiled at Cross, thankful for the advice.
"Do you love someone?" the kid asked, making Cross blush a bit.
"Yea, I have a crush on my Boss, Nightmare.." Cross admitted.
"Well, I hope they love you back then!" The kid smiled, although it looked like he was blushing a bit as well. Cross chuckled a bit.
"Well, thank you, Mister..." The kid blushed awkwardly, not knowing his name.
"You can just call me Cross if ya want kiddo." Cross smiled. The kid smiled as Cross pat his skull.
"You can call me N... Nash." The kid smiled. "Also, can I stay with you Mister Cross? My brother kicked me out, and I have no where else to go.."
"Of course you can stay with me." Cross smiled. "You'll have to come with me to work though, since it's most of the day." "Nash" seemed to pout, which in turn, caused Cross to let out a laugh.
"There are a lot of cool skeletons there, it won't be boring. And if it is, you can always play with me or meet the others." Nash nodded, and cuddled up to Cross.
"I'm sleepy, do you have a bed I could use?" Cross looked at the time, and it was 8:12. He should've clocked out 12 minutes ago but it doesn't matter right now.
"I do have a bed, come with me." Cross said. Cross would have to give up his bed until he got another bed, but it didn't matter to him. As long as Nash was comfortable.
They got to the monochromatic bed, and Nash jumped on it, cuddling up to the fluffy pillows.
"Nighty night Cross." Nash smiled. "I love you."
Cross smiled and chuckled a bit. "Love ya too, kid." Cross walked downstairs, and decided to go to bed as well.

Nightmare's POV

How foolish is Cross?! How can he think not only my form is a "kid," but how could he trust me so easily! If it was me, I would've probably put the kid out of his misery immediately. At least Cross didn't try to kill me though, I know better than anyone else he's capable of seriously hurting me.
Why am I doing this? Why am I now "Nash?"
I love Cross more than anything, even though Cross is by far the creepiest kid out of all of them. And that's saying a lot, since I hire the deadliest and creepiest Sanses around. But I can't help but fall for that freak of a sans.
I can't reveal my true identity, since I want to gather information on Cross. I want to know how to confess to him, and maybe even find out if he even loves me back. This is going to be a time for me to learn.
I technically don't need to sleep, but I end up falling into a deep slumber anyway, ignoring my restless mind.

3rd POV

"Nash... wake up.." Nightmare grumbled as he woke up. He hadn't slept in a while, and m it was quite uncomfortable waking up.
"Wuh.." Nightmare mumbled, then remembered everything. "Oh, hello Cross!"
"Hey lil buddy, I gotta get to work. I'll make you some breakfast when we get there, okay?" Nightmare nodded, and he grabbed Cross's hand. Cross's hand felt so warm, he loved the feeling.
Until Cross pulled away.
"Oh, let's get you a change of clothes." Cross said. "Nightmare probably won't mind me being a couple minutes late if it's for a good reason."
"Nightmare sounds like a nice person." Nightmare said, internally laughing. He could care less about this "good reason," but if it was Cross, he'd let it slide.
"Sometimes he's not nice, but I'm sure he won't hurt you." Cross told him. "Come on, grab my hand. Nightmare held Cross's hand, and they got teleported to Nightmare's mansion. Nightmare didn't want to let go of Cross's hand, so he acted shy.
"I-It's really d-dark here..." Nightmare muttered. Cross sighed slightly.
"You'll get used to it, don't worry." Cross told him. Dust walked into the living room where Cross and "Nash" were, and hummed.
"Who's that? Is it a sacrifice?" Dust asked. "Nightmare's not here, so you'll have to wait until tomorrow."
"This is Nash, and if you touch him I will break your neck slowly and painfully." Cross growled.
"Oh, who did you fuck?" Dust asked, making Cross blush heavily.
"N-no one! I found him abandoned!" Cross hissed, making Dust chuckle.
"Alright kid. Nightmare told us we had the day off so do whatever." Dust told him, before walking away.
Cross sighed, and gripped onto the couch.
"Cross? What's a fuck?" Cross spat a bit, and coughed. Nightmare patted Cross's back, trying to get him to stop choking.
"It's when two people have sex." Cross told him.
"O-oh.." Nightmare said.

The two decided to head home after that, since Nash didn't like the dark. They spent the day doing what a normal father and son would do. They watched TV until lunch time, and then they ate some macaroni. After that, they played some chess, and surprisingly, Nash knew how to play as well.
"Hey, Cross?" Nightmare said. Cross looked up. They had just finished a game of chess and "Nash" had won.
"Yes Nash?" Cross said.
"It's actually Nightmare." He said, going into his goopy form. Cross's face darkened and he had a look that just screamed "shit."
"O-oh.." was what Cross had to say. Nightmare pinned Cross to the wall behind where they were playing, making Cross even more frightened.
"Do you like kids?" Nightmare asked. Cross nodded.
"Maybe we can have some in the future." Cross blushed heavily as Nightmare placed his head on top of Cross.
"D-do you really love me?" Cross squeaked nervously.
"Of course." Nightmare said. Nightmare leaned in and kissed Cross. Cross kissed him back and soon after that, fainted. Everything happened too fast for Cross to handle.
Nightmare chuckled, and picked Cross up. He kissed Cross on the cheek, and decided to bring him to his bedroom to rest.

——
Bonus lol:

Cross grabbed his head. He had just woken up from the weirdest dream.
"Geez, I hope I don't think Nash is Nightmare.." Cross muttered. Cross heard a yawn from beside him. Cross worried that he had fallen asleep beside Nash, so he turned around. He was shocked to see Nightmare looking back at him, his eye half open.
"Hey Crossy." Nightmare muttered. "Wanna cuddle a bit?"
Cross exploded into a blush, and immediately cuddled up to Nightmare. Nightmare chuckled, and kissed Cross's forehead, before cuddling him back.
"It wasn't a dream.." Cross thought to himself. Cross smiled as the two fell back asleep in each other's embrace.
