"Clove? Please, can I come in?" Cato sounded wary, I wished so badly I had one of my knives with me, but we weren't allowed to have weapons on us unless we were in the training hall.

"Go away." I groaned into my pillow, I didn't want to see him, and I didn't want him to see that I had been crying either.

"Please Clove, let me talk to you."

I sniffed, and sat up on the mattress, trying to dry my eyes as Cato opened the door and took a step inside.

"What the hell was that about?" I asked, trying to sound hard and demanding, but my voice cracked, revealing the terrified and confused little girl that I was.

"What?" He asked, moving to sit next to me on the bed, and for some reason, I let him.

"You know what! You and that District 1 girl!" I shouted, wanting to be angry with him, but I just couldn't. "Why are you doing this to me Cato?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.

"It wasn't me! I swear it was all her! Besides, I could never feel for anyone else the way that I feel for you, I love you." That was the first time I had ever heard those words from anyone. Not even my parents. Those three little words, made my heart clench painfully.

"C-Cato, I love you too, I do, but I need to know that I can trust you with my heart, and just having you say those words doesn't mean that you truly mean them."

"But I do, Clove, I swear!" Cato shouts, pleading.

"I can't really know that can I Cato?! I don't know! I'm just so confused!" I cried, tears slipping down my cheeks once again. "I shouldn't have volunteered, I thought that I was ready, but as soon as I stepped onto that train, I realized what a mess I had gotten myself into! I don't belong here Cato!" I sobbed, and he put his arm around my shoulders, trying to comfort me.

I couldn't help it, it was all so stressful, I just didn't understand. I wanted to trust Cato, I wanted to with all my heart, but I didn't know if I could, and not knowing is the most painful part.

He pulled me onto his lap, which, in my state, I allowed, as he tried to quiet me, and I soon found my tears drying and my sobs quieter, until my eyes closed, and I fell asleep in Cato's arms.
