We sit together by the Cornucopia for a long while, waiting for Marvel to come walking back into camp, but as it grows dark, our assurance of his return grows dimmer and dimmer along with the dying sunlight.
the anthem rings out across the arena, and we look into the sky as the capitol symbol flashes, killing the light of the dim stars. I see the boy Cato had killed first. But next I see Marvel. I'm shocked to see his face in the sky this early in the games. I was sure he would have made it at least to the final 3. Then, I see the little girl from 11, and the sky fades back to the dim stars again.
"We're alone." Cato says, still looking up into the sky.
"Yeah." I reply. "But, there are only a few of us left. Maybe we can make it to the end."
"To do what? One of us has to die remember?" He says.
"We don't have to fight each other. We can just wait until the capitol kills one of us off. We don't have to submit to them." I say quietly, pulling at the charred remains of the grass with my fingers.
"I guess so." He sighs quietly, pulling me into his lap and kissing the top of my hair. "Hey, I have something I wanted to give you. Before the choosing cerimony." He whispers into my ear,
"Oh?" I ask, looking back at him, as he pulls something from his pocket.
"Open your hands." He says, and I do so as he places the small golden object into my palm. I look down and gasp quietly, it was a beautiful diamond ring, the band swirling into the jewels themselves. "It was my mothers- I was going to... well... I wanted to use it as a promise ring- but- Clove, if I could have anything, it would be you. If I could I would marry you this instant." I stare at him. "I guess what Im saying is... Would you marry me?"

(( Sorry it took so long guys! Honestly I forgot about this! hehe! I will try and write more later, but I honestly have to reread the book again so I make sure that I get the sequence of the events correctly! Hope you liked this short chapter!
