We stayed here for a while, not really learning much, mainly just laughing at each other.
I found that at the camouflage station that I had no painting skills whatsoever. When Cato couldn’t help but laugh at my attempts, I ended up splashing him with all the paints that I could get my hands on before he came after me.
“Get back here!” He laughed, charging after me as he dripped paint onto the walls, floor, and equipment as he ran. I was lucky because I was faster, but I knew that eventually he would catch up, so I needed to get out of his reach.
I ran over to the rope ladder, Swinging up onto it, and quickly making my way up. I stopped about 10 feet in the air, since I had no need to get any higher.
“Aw come on Clove! That’s not fair!” Cato called, stopping at the bottom of the rope ladder, and looking up at me. I laughed, his face was splattered with paint, and the look of distress in his eyes was almost comical. I don’t know why, but it still made me laugh.
I climbed back down after a few moments. As soon as my feet were on the ground, Cato swept me up in his arms, and even as I thrashed around and complained at being carried, he never loosened his grip, and just laughed at my futile attempts to escape. He soon had me laughing too.
“Put me down Cato! Please!” I laughed, and he let me back up on my own feet.
“Come on, let’s go wash up before the other tributes see us.” I say, grabbing his hand, which by the way, was still covered in multicolored paints, and we walked back to the elevator.
After washing up, we decided to go back down to training, why not? Right?
By the time we got there, all the other tributes were at least halfway through their own training.
Marvel was busy with the spears, and Glimmer was at the archery station, but as soon as they saw us, they walked over. Glimmer didn’t seem to notice my hate filled glare as she walked towards the two of us. She had eyes only for Cato.
You’re only digging yourself a deeper grave sweetheart…
I could see that Cato was making a huge attempt not to make contact with her since she was trying pretty hard to get his attention. She really didn’t know what danger she was putting herself in.
“What are you two doing over here?” Cato asked, looking the two of them up and down, assessing them on whether or not they were worthy to be called threats.
“I asked them to be allies with us, together; the other tributes wouldn’t be able to stop us.” I said, and just to get on that Glimmer girl’s nerves, I turned to Cato, and gave him a quick kiss.
Glimmer pursed her lips in agitation, and I felt a wry smile forming over my lips. Getting on her nerves was so amusing.
“Okay, I guess that’s fine.” Says Cato to me; completely disregarding to two tributes standing in front of us.
