Narrator speaking here folks!

The next few weeks Polar spent making a nest destroying it and starting over. Scar could tell his beloved mate was agitated.

Grabbing a mouthful of dead leaves, Polar moved to the back of the cave. Then she grabbed some soft plants, then some moss, and lastly some bones.

Arranging them just so, she was happy. This would be the nest her babies would be born in.

Outside Scar let out a warble. Standing up, Polar walked outside. As soon as she was out of the cave Scar ran up to her and nuzzled her neck.

"I finished marking our territory." Scar said triumphantly. "Good job. I finished building the nest." Polar grinned.

The next day Polar was in extreme agony as she laid her twelve eggs. Nuzzling each one she made sure they all were warm.

Polar looked at her mate with love. Scar walked over and laid down next to his beloved Polar. "If the first hatch is a male, we will name him Tooth." Scar demanded.

"If the second or first hatch is a female, we will name her Claw." Polar demanded.

Out of 12 eggs normally 10 would survive hatching, 8 would survive their first few weeks of life. 6 would make it through infancy. 4 would make it to be a year old and only 2 would live to have a family of their own.

That was what usually happened, but depending on how many eggs there are the number could go up or down. It also depends on the species of dinosaur.

One month later.

(I'm not sure if that's how long it would take for a raptor egg to hatch. But whatever.)

Polar's Pov.

As I was sitting on my clutch, I could feel a few of them start to stir. "Scar get in here! The eggs are stirring!" I warbled.

Scar came running in. I got up and moved aside so we could both watch the eggs hatch.

The farthest one to the right started shaking. It cracked and out came a claw. Then the egg shattered.

Scar's Pov.

I chirped to the light green wee one. It blinked then looked at me. Polar nuzzled the baby. Giving it a lick on the head, she then carefully picked it up and moved it towards me.

It cocked its head then stumbled forward. Moving my claw I quickly caught the baby. "It's a girl." Polar chirped in a loving tone.

"Claw." I chirped to little Claw. Then I nuzzled her. Claw chirped a little chirp in response.

Tooth hatched next, he was dark green. But the other eggs didn't hatch. Polar was sad but she was glad she at least had two healthy babies.
