17: Connor

The next day Connor got up and got ready for school. He smiled in the mirror as he tied his hair back. He told himself it was silly, but he couldn't help himself. Just to see the look on Evan's face, that little excited smile he got whenever Connor put his hair up was enough for him. He got his stuff and peeped his head around Zoe's door.

"Hey Zoe? Are you still okay to give me a ride today?" She smiled.

"Of course, give me 10 minutes." Connor made his way down the stairs to the kitchen where his Dad was sitting at the table on his phone.

"Oh look the Zombie had risen! Finally go to do something useful with your life Connor?" Connor smiled, and put on a dramatic, deep, Batman-style voice.

"Oh morning son, how are you? Hope you have a great day at school!" Connor answered in his own voice while staring his father down. "Oh hi dad I'm having a great day thank you so much for asking, and I hope you have a great day at work dad because I'm such a great loving son." And with that he stormed out the door and waiting outside for his sister.

They both got to school and Zoe went off to the band room, while Connor went down the hall. He looked around for Evan instinctively, and spied him at his locker. He slowly walked up the corridor waiting for Evan to look up and notice. He got within 10m of the locker when Evan looked up. He beamed at Connor, smiling as wide as he could, until his nose did that adorable little crinkle thing. Connor smiled back at him. Evan ran up to him and hugged him with such force that Connor had to step back to regain his balance. And then he wrapped his arms around Evan, smiling down at him, as Evan only came about halfway up his chest.

"I'm so glad you're back." Evan murmured into Connor's hoodie. Connor just smiled.

"I'm glad I'm back too." He practically whispered into Evan's hair.

"GAAAAYYYYYYYYY." Jared Kleinman came strolling up to the lockers. Him and Evan broke apart and Connor just shook his head smiling. Jared patted Connor on the back.

"Good to have you back Connor, Evan has been a fucking mess without you." Evan scowled as best he could.

"Have not!" Alana came up behind Jared.

"I don't know Evan you have been a bit of a nervous wreck lately." Evan just blushed. Connor turned to Jared.

"What? Are you guys still on that biology project? When is it due?" Jared scratched the back of his neck.

"Ahhh like what next week Alana?" Alana just nodded.

They were all sitting at lunch talking when Connor turned to Evan.

"Hey do you have any plans later?" Evan thought for a moment and shook his head.

"No, I mean I'm normally free so..." Connor smiled.

"So... want to do something?" Evan nodded which got another "GAAAAAAY" from Jared.

"Okay bathbombs." Connor shot back laughing, that sure shut Jared up. Evan piped up.

"Can I come over to your place?" Connor smiled.

"Ooh kinky!" Jared sipped at his soda. Evan stepped on Jared's foot again earning a laugh from Alana and Connor. It was good day.
