Connor was slowly packing up his things in the dressing room, he had put his costume away and was back in his hoodie and skinny jeans. His hands were still shaking, he had never felt anything like it. Being up on that stage performing, it gave him such a rush of adrenaline, honestly he felt high. But now, like any high, he was hitting a low. The buzz of the spotlight was wearing off, and now he was left by himself again. Christine came bustling in.

"Connnooooorrrr." She cooed. Connor looked up and sighed.

"What is it Christine?" She waved a note in his face.

"Some guy told me to give this to you." Connor felt his heart race.

"What guy? What did he look like?" Christine thought.

"Hmmmm well he was pretty short, for a guy i mean. Aaaand he had like blondish sorta hair? And he had like this blue stripy sorta shirt on." Connor's eyes widened as he stared at the note in his hand.

"Okay thanks Christina." She skipped off. Connor sat down, his hands trembling as he unfolded the note.

I saw your performance tonight. You were amazing, just like i always said you'd be. You are truely special Connor. Don't forget that.

Evan xx

Connor felt the tears rush to his eyes. His head was spinning. He stared down at the note shaking his head. It was all wrong. So wrong. Evan was the one who helped him get this role, Evan was the one who stood by him through this. It was wrong that they weren't together now. Connor did this whole thing for Evan, and he needed Evan beside him. Connor felt like he was going to be sick. He knew what he had to do. He was going to make it right. Or at least he was going to try.

...

Connor grabbed his stuff and ran, out into the night, right into the pouring rain. He ran until he felt like he was going to pass out, then ran again. He knew the way, and he wouldn't stop until he got there. Just as he felt like his feet couldn't take him any further he saw the house in the distance and smiled. He walked up to the door and knocked. He felt his heart stop as he saw Evan's face.

"Connor what the hell are you doing here?" Connor held up the paper, which was now soaking wet.

"I got your note!" Evan stood at the door uncomfortably. "Evan I'm sorry. I was wrong." Evan's face softened, Connor felt his fill up with tears. "I was wrong to leave you. But I was just so scared of losing you that i guess, i felt it would be easier to let you go first." Connor shook his head, "But i was wrong. It hurts so much more. Every day i miss you and i just-" Connor felt the tears rolled down his face, "I love you." He choked out, Evan's eyes welled up with tears in front of him. "I love you so goddamn much Evan Hansen. And I'm still scared. Still scared you will finally realise what you are worth and leave me for someone you deserve, but at the end of the day, whatever your reasons were you chose me. You chose me and so no matter what i will be here, i'll be here for you. Maybe this is a really bad idea and maybe we will fall apart after school." Connor shrugged, "But maybe, maybe we won't. It's a slim chance but it's enough, enough to hope for. So if you still love me," Connor looked into Evan's eyes, "I want to come back to you." He swallowed hard, "Evan i think i want to spend the rest of my life with you, which is terrifying for me. But i want to try. For you I'll try." Evan stood there for a second before leaping into Connor arms, kissing him passionately as Connor held him in the rain. And all of a sudden it felt like Connor could breath again, like he'd woken up from a nightmare and realised it wasn't real. Connor just kissed Evan, held his as tightly as he could because from now on, there was no way Connor was letting go again.

Evan laughed as they stood in the rain.

"It's like The Notebook!" Connor burst out laughing as Evan went inside to grab some towels. Heidi walked out.

"Evan why the hell are you so wet what-" She saw Connor, who shrugged awkwardly. Evan smiled.

"It's okay mum." Connor waited for Heidi to say something, but she just smiled at Connor. He smiled back. Connor liked that about Evan's mum, some things she just knew. She didn't need to ask or pry, with a simple glance she just knew everything was alright.

"Well let me make you boys some tea or something it's bloody cold outside." She turned on the kettle and got Connor and Evan a cup of tea each. They dried themselves off as best the couple with the towels and sat on the couch together. Connor lay across Evan's lap, staring up at him. He smiled.

"I love you." He whispered. Evan smiled back as he stroked Connor's cheek.

"And i love you." Connor smiled as he closed his eyes, suddenly feeling the fatigue set in. He snuggled himself down in the towels and before he knew it he fell asleep in Evan's arms.
