"Step on the right foot and kick with your left. I can tell that's the strongest." My mom commanded and I did what I was told. She had woken me up, early as promised and for the first time in years I was actually grateful. I needed a distraction from last night.

After Carter had told me that he was a half vampire I turned and walked back into the party. I just could not deal with anymore surprises. And shockingly enough, the boys let me leave without another word.

"Now I want you to use your power to create flames to your hands." She said.

Flames to my what now? "How do I do that?"

"I assume you know how to attach your warmth to whatever part of your body correct?" I nodded. "Then all you have to do is push past that barrier and expand your power more. Start little, with what you know and mentally command the fire to reach your hands."

"Okay.." I responded unsure. I've practiced on my own here and there but I never went further than what I know. Add that plus the stuff that happened yesterday and you pretty much have my brain in a mush.

I held my ground on the grass and held my hands out in front of me. Feeling the fire, coursing through my veins I focused on my hands. I could practically see the heat radiating from them and I pushed, just a little bit more. My hands sparked and I continued to push.

"Breath. If you push too hard you'll burn out again."

I took a couple deep breaths and calmed myself but still continued to push. Finally I felt the slight tingle and warmth of the fire covering my hands. It was shocking at first but I got used to it. Comforable. "What now?" My voice sounded relaxed.

"I want you to direct it to the ground. Draw a circle with the flames. Use both hands."

I did as I was told and drew a circle in the ground. Although, it came out more like an oval. I felt giddy, like I wanted to laugh and never stop. But I knew if I did my concentration would be lost.

"Now onto the hard part. I want you to get connected with the earth." My mother said as she put her hands on her hips. Somehow she fixed my circle with a wave of her finger. It must be the witch magic she says she's been practicing.

  Wait connected?

  "Wouldn't that... hurt?"

She nodded. "Yes, but the more you learn how to connect them without hurting yourself you should feel fine. It'd be worst if you didn't have the power to control earth and fire."

"What would happen if I didn't?"

"If you did not you would die. Either by imploding or by insanity."

   "Oh joy."

"Don't let it discourage you. You are able to do it. It will only hurt you slightly since this is your first time doing it."

Without thinking I smirked. That sounded dirty.

My mother rolled her eyes. "I swear, you are just like your brother."

That comment made me feel weird. Like it would have been casual if she was always around but since she wasn't it felt odd. I wonder what Nathan would do or say if he were in the same position. Due to previous events I'd think he would be pissed off beyond belief. I took a deep breath and focused on both the fire and the earth. At this point I could disgustinish the differences between the two. With fire, I felt it throughout my entire core where my passion lay. It felt like a physical rope that I could yank each time effortlessly and fire would result. With earth I felt it throughout my entire body. It was something like moved me and scared me at the same time.
