JESSICA'S P.O.V
I walked down the stairway, a bowl of fruit and chocolate milk balancing on the tray in my hands. I took slow steps as I was concentrating on not falling. The time ticked on my wrist watch and I was late...again.. Nothing new in that except that this time Ally would be furious.
"Where are you going?" The voice startled me making me jump. The tray slipped from my hand but in the fraction of second a white pale hand caught it without spilling even a drop of milk.
"I am so sorry. Are you okay?" I looked at Niall who now stood behind Sapphire in a blue tracksuit. I took a moment to admire my roommate. His blonde hair was a mess that stuck to his forehead with the glistening sweat. His cheeks were stained pink from the morning jog. The black headphones hung around his neck and damn! the boy was fit. I snapped out of my shameless oogling as Saphy cleared her throat with a mischievous smile on her face.
"I am okay." I finally replied.
"Are you taking this for Cathy?" Saphy asked and I nodded. "Good. Ally was being impatient and sent me to get you. Lets go." She took a step forward.
"I will catch up after shower." Niall said giving me one of his dazzling smiles though there was something missing. A groan almost slipped from my mouth as I stared in his dark blue eyes. The coldness had returned. I had by now learnt to judge his moods by the shade of his eyes. The darker the blue the crankier he gets.
"Okay..." I mumbled walking with Saphy who chattered all the way about some assignment but I was hardly paying attention.
When we walked into the infirmary, Ally rose from her chair walking towards us. She looked panicked as if something was wrong.
"She isn't up yet!" She croaked.
"Maybe she is just tired. You know how she sleeps after all the drama." I tried to calm her.
"Yes but I went in to check on her and accidently dropped a glass yet she did not stir. You know she is a light sleeper." She said.
"Maybe it's the healing process. Let Danielle check." Saphy said nodding backwards as she set the tray on the side table.
"I am so sorry I am late. Liam broke the alarm." Dani rushed towards us flustered. Without waiting she walked into Cathy's room and pulled open the curtains. Sunlight flooded in making patterns over Cathy's face. I noticed she did not stir and it worried me but I could see her chest moving with her shallow breathing and I pushed the worst conclusion away from my mind. Dani bent next to Cathy, her palms trailing over her sleeping form. Her eyebrows scrunched as she stopped. Dani was concentrating hard, her palms now resting on Cathy's head. I could see a white glow emanating from her palms.
A gasp escaped Cathy's lips as she sat straight on the bed jerking out of sleep it was followed by a scream and Danielle pushed her down on the bed. We rushed towards the bed and I closed my eyes my hands moving forward. I could hear her whimpering.
"It hurts." She forced out.
"You weren't supposed to move Cath. I am trying... please don't move." Dani spoke. As I concentrated, I could feel Cathy's mind, a mixture of emotions swirled in her head but it was easier to find that the pain dominated others. I pushed happy thoughts in her head, anything that I could think of. Old memories, heavy rains, music. It was hard and I could feel a migraine coming on but it seemed to work cuz the whimpering stopped. Cool hands gripped my forearms and I felt the dizziness hitting me. Saphy in a quick moment set me on the nearby chair and Ally sprinkled some water on my face. I could not concentrate now with the fatigue but it had already worked. I opened my eyes to see Catherine relaxed and Danielle walking towards me. Her touch was enough to take away my tiredness and it amazed me how gifted the healers were.
