"So exactly how would you come up with the funding and everything?"

I could feel my heartbeat thumping in my ears as I watched the owner of the children's theater peer at me over her silver rimmed glasses while she lightly fingered the end of her gray ponytail.

Although my original plan to head to the children's theater the next day had been postponed when I realized they were closed on Sundays, Lia and I had spent the weekend working out the details of the play.

Now that it was early Monday morning, we were all set to go with a general skit and theme to pitch to the theater. We'd also devised back up plans for the high school's auditorium and the local church sanctuary, my heart was really set on the theater because that's where all of our kids had performed in plays as children and I wanted to carry on the tradition.

Yet, under the watchful eyes gazing at me, my mind drew an absolute blank.

"Well," I started and paused to find the right words.

Lia jumped in without hesitating. "My father is Jackson Harris and his law firm, Harris and Associates were a very large sponsor for years and he's agreed to sponsor again. In addition, my law firm Andrews-Knight, Calloway, and Associates will serve as a sponsor and we have an expected agreement from the Holloway Tech Corporation."

"Oh, wow, impressive," the woman whose name tag declared that her name was Jane gave a nod. "And you'd be able to get volunteers and staff rounded up and everything?"

"Yes, absolutely," Lia nodded and handed the woman the document that she'd typed up. "We have all the details outlined there. As you can see, it will involve some very traditional elements as well as some fun surprises and I can guarantee you that you won't be disappointed. My husband is extremely talented and I can assure you the kids and the parents will love it."

Jane flipped through the pages, silently critiquing them, "A Knight Family Production. So is this what you do as a family? Do you have some other examples of plays you've done?"

"Well, no, this is our first one," I finally spoke up and glanced at Lia anxiously and she gave my hand a light squeeze under the table. "But yes, we expect to have our family and friends involved."

Jane glanced between Lia and me skeptically, "You two work well together?"

"We work great together," Lia smiled and I squeezed her hand back gently.

"Well, alright then, you have my tentative agreement, but before everything is finalized I'm going to need a final, official script and score, but I'll go ahead and send out an announcement to our families that usually like to participate in plays. That should get your auditions and everything started."

I couldn't hide my excitement as a grin filled my face, "Really?"

"Yes, Mr. Knight," she nodded. "I've been to your show and your son's show and I have to admit I know you're talented, but I wanted to see just how much your wife here would go to bat for you."

Lia blushed, "Sorry if I talked too much. It's really his idea and project, but I think it'll be great for the community."

Jane chuckled, "So do I, it's just refreshing to see a husband-wife team that aren't talking over each other," she extended her hand. "I look forward to working with both of you."

"Thank you," I smiled and lightly shook her hand. "I can't wait to get started."

"Neither can I," Lia agreed and also shook her hand as a grin filled her face.

Jane nodded, "You're more than welcome to take a look around the stage if that'll help with the planning. We have a new artist that oversees set design and she's in there right now if you'd like to meet her?"
