Bennett lead me in the direction of the library, his gaze set ahead. He refused to release me, even when I protested and said there was something I had to do first. It would have been the perfect opportunity for him and my cousin to spend time together, if he wasn't so determined to get there. He followed the twists and turns to the library, his grip never easing. It wasn't until one of my mothers' servants stepped in front of us did he stop. Even then, I was convinced he was about to walk around her and ignore whatever it was she had to say.
" Lunch is being served," the servant said bowing her head. "Pamula requests your presence."
In one swift motion, I brought Bennett to a halt, mid-stride. I gave the servant a confused look.
" Pamula, did you say?"" Yes Princess."
" What of my mother?" I asked.
Bennett let out a frustrated sigh, allowing me to anchor him next to me. He tapped his foot against the hard wood floor, glaring at the servant when she didn't answer right away. " Well?"
Her face warmed. " The Queen is taking lunch with Sir Benjamin."
For a moment, I was certain the world stopped spinning. We stood there, staring intently at the servant, as if willing her to say more. What could they be doing that they couldn't in front of everyone else? If they were discussing the wedding and contract, Pamula should have gone with them.
" Where?"
The five foot tall servant shuffled on her feet, staring up at me nervously. " I cannot say, Princess."
" So they wish to keep it secret?" I asked apprehensively. Raising an eyebrow, I took an intimidating step closer to peer down at her. She nodded, her lips turning down at the corners. " You wouldn't wish to disobey me, would you?"
She looked horrified by the idea, her gray eyes growing wide. " No, Princess!"
" Then you'll tell me where they are," I said with a smile that dared her to say otherwise.
" I cannot-"
Bennett placed his hand on the small of my back, when I paused to look back at him, he was staring right at the servant. " I know where they are."
" You do?"
He turned to me and nodded.
Anticipation raced through my body. I waved the servant off, dismissing her. When she was gone, I turned on my heals and faced him. " You saw her thoughts?"
" They're having lunch in the gazebo." He said. " In the garden."
" Is that so?" I asked, voice laced with accusation.
He frowned at me. " I knew nothing of this."
" Fantastic," I said crossing my arms. " That means neither of us have any idea as to what they're plotting."
Again he grabbed my arm.
With a sound close to that of an animal, I struggled against him.
" Where are we going now?"" To the garden."
Surprised and gitty, I followed willingly. " What about the library?"
" The library can wait." He said darkly. Grinning widely, I marched through the palace with him. A few of the servants tried to bring us to the dinning room, only for Bennett to carelessly walk around them. The closer we got to the doors, the more he increased in speed. There were a few times when I stumbled, he moved too fast suddenly, his vampire abilities kicking in. When that happened he gave me an apologetic look, then continued.
