"Kurt. We have a pr-" Blaine had taken the seat next to Kurt at his usual table.

"Okay, no." Kurt cut him off. "You're not doing that. You can't just sit here as if anyone likes you."

"Just listen to me. There's a problem. Some freshman on the Warblers has a recording of Sebastian singing."

Kurt's eyes widened and he looked of at Sebastian, who sighed. He shook his head, burying his face in his hands.

He turned back to Blaine. "Well, what'd you do? How do you know?"

"He came up to me and played the recording. He wants to try to get Sebastian to join, and if the rest hear him sing..." Blaine trailed off.

Sebastian looked up abruptly. "He- that c-can't be play-played in front of- of the Warblers," he said, voice barely audible and the amount of effort it took him to speak noticeable.

"That's the point," Blaine said, but Kurt knew something else was wrong. He never looked that afraid when they talked about it.

"What's wrong?"

Sebastian opened his mouth and then appeared to change his mind. He pulled out his phone, typing. Then Kurt's phone buzzed.

There's somebody on
the Warblers who can't
hear that. Especially
because of the song.
They just can't.

"Who?" Blaine asked, having looked over Kurt's shoulder.

Long story.

Kurt looked up at Sebastian, who shook his head slightly.

It's not something I don't
want to tell Blaine, it's
something I don't feel
comfortable sharing with
anyone.

He frowned. "But..."

Kurt, there's a lot I haven't
told you. This is just the
one you know about.

"A lot? I've told you practically everything."

Practically.

Kurt sent him a sour look and Sebastian sighed, typing again.

Think of the worst thing
you've told me. Multiply it
by the depth of the Mariana
Trench from sea level. That's
one of the minor things I
haven't told you.

"Fuck, what happened?" Blaine whispered. He felt awful. This was the boy he'd been taunting for years.

Sebastian was quiet, typing a long time.

I forgot you were there.
It's nothing important.

"That damn well sounds important," Blaine said. Sebastian winced.

"Sebastian, if you tell me part of it, I can help you," Kurt said.

He hesitated.

I can't. This part is everything.
I told someone everything I
can't tell anyone else, and
they're why I can't tell anyone.
If they try to get me on the
Warblers, that will all get out.
He'll tell all of it so I don't
get on.

"Why'd you tell them?" Kurt asked.

It was a while ago. I was
naïve. I thought I'd actually
found someone I could trust.
The second he found out,
he was gone.

Sebastian paused, as if debating, before sending another text.

We were dating. It was the
best thing that ever happened
to me, until I ruined it.

"You're gay?" Blaine asked, seeming surprised. Sebastian nodded.

"I'm so sorry," Kurt said softly. Then, equally soft and gently, he added, "Blaine, if that recording gets to the Warblers, one of us is dying and it sure as hell isn't going to be me or Sebastian."
