"WHAT?!"

Adrien didn't know what he was hearing. He repeated the words his mom had just told him, and Emilie nodded.

"How could you?!" Adrien yelled. True, he hadn't told his mother that he was protecting Marinette from Gabriel, but still. Emilie should have come to him first. She should have made sure he was okay with it.

"Adrien, live up to it. I know you think Marinette hates you, but you never know," Emile shrugged. She was the kind of woman who always stood positive. "You two might get along."

Adrien grumbled. How could she say that?! She obviously didn't know how much Marinette hated him. She would probably kill him if she had to. And with no regret. After all...

He was the kind of guy nobody wanted to hang out with.

But now Marinette was going to live with him. And it's not even for a day or something. A week is even too long! How could this be happening?!

"Adrien, what's wrong? Tell me, what's the real reason you don't want Marinette to come over?" Emilie folded her arms.

Adrien sniffed, looking away. "No reason."

"Oh, come on!" Emilie rolled her eyes. She could tell her son was lying. He wasn't that very good at lying when it came to her. "Tell me!"

When he didn't answer, Emilie guessed. "Is it because of Gabriel?"

Adrien sniffed again, but nodded.

"Don't worry, he's not going to hurt her," she smiled at him, but Adrien only huffed

"He's not?! How are you so sure about that?!" He snapped, something he hadn't done before. "Gabriel is capable of a lot of things you don't know about. I don't know if you know this, but you do know he's cheating on you, right?!"

Emile sighed, looking down. "Lina? Yes, I know."

Adrien frowned. "You know, yet you're doing nothing about it?!"

"What am I supposed to do, Adrien? Fine! I'm pathetic. I'm weak, but I can't go against him." Emilie shuddered. "You know when I tried to. When I found out he had been with Lina. I tried to have divorce with him and run away, but he caught me and punished me in the worst way possible."

Adrien sighed. "I'm sorry..."

Why had he done that?! Going and yelling at his mom like she was wrong? How could he act as if his mom was weak when he was the weak one here. He couldn't do anything. He couldn't even protect himself from Gabriel. So how was he going to protect Marinette.

He was going to do it... He was going to try!

"Bye Mama, Papa," Marinette waved once again as her parents took off in their car. She sighed and looked back at Emilie, who was smiling at her.

"Marinette you are going to have a lot of fun staying with it. Come on in," she started leading the bluenette inside.

"Adrien, come greet your classmate," Emilie yelled.

"No, no, it's fine Mrs. Agreste. I'm sure he's busy anyway," Marinette didn't want him coming to greet her. If anything, she didn't want to see him at all.

But Adrien came down. He had a relieved face, about Gabriele not being at home for a while. Maybe he could warn Marinette of the danger.

Nah! Emilie had told him to make sure that Marinette had the best times here. If he went and told her about Gabriel's true colors, Marinette would start panicking and won't have in very fun here.

"Hey Marinette," he waved a little, Marinette waving back. He could see how she didn't mean it though. The fake smile, the fake wave. She was pretending.

And it hurt him.

"I'll... Show you up to your room," he muttered. Marinette heard him though, and with Emilie carrying her bags, she followed Adrien upstairs.

Whoa! Such a huge room. What am I going to do with all these space?

Marinette went wide eyed at the room. She looked across from it, seeing Adrien's room, which had the door wide opened.

This is what it is like to be rich?

"Thanks Mrs. Agreste, and... Adrien..." She muttered the last part to herself.

"You are very much welcome. But Marinette, I'm a good friend of your mother, you can call me Emilie if you wish to," Emilie flashed her smile again, Marinette retuning it with a fake one, and she left.

"Uh... If you need anything, call me," Adrien quickly said, fiddling with his fingers. "And if there's nothing else... I'll be leaving."

He took a moment to look up at her, and he couldn't help as his face became red as he ran out of the room.

Marinette sighed and flopped herself on the huge bed.
