"What happened to him?"
Marinette and Alya walked in on Emilie talking to a nurse. The bluenette stopped her friend and listened in.
They hadn't went to the hospital right after. Alya had to stay with her sisters because unfortunately her mother left. While at that, Marinette felt nervous of going to the hospital, thinking that maybe Adrien was going to be mad at her because she left in the first place.
"I, uh... He fell down the stairs and while at that, hit his head against the wall," Emilie quickly said. Marinette could tell she was nervous.
The nurse raised an eyebrow. "He did?"
"But that was after he got in a fight," The mother sighed and looked down. "It wasn't his fault. He just gets in fights when he's very angry, and he was badly beaten up."
The nurse nodded her head. "Well then, if you say so. He did look like he was badly beaten. You can come see him if you want."
Emilie nodded, and then noticed Marinette and Alya standing at the corner. The nurse walked away, so Marinette made her way towards her.
"Was what you said true?"
Emilie shook her head. "Sort of. He got into a fight with Gabriel again, Gabriel of course winning. I'm sorry you have to deal with this, Marinette."
"It's fine. Let's go and see him." Marinette suggested, for once for getting that Alya was there, looking confused at the two.
She didn't exactly know what they were talking about. She thought it was just a normal family fight, and an accident. So she brushed it off and followed Marinette and Emilie.
"Hey Adrien."
Adrien was awake, sitting on white bed. He turned to the females without saying a word, turn cracked a smile, as if finding what he was looking for.
"Are you okay?" Emilie rushed to her son, putting her arms around him.
"Yeah, I'm fine." He was when he saw her. Marinette. It had been only a day, but he missed her so bad. Why was Alya here though?
Marinette didn't speak for a while. Even Alya went over to him, asking him if he was okay. Finally Marinette walked up to him.
"I was seriously worried. What happened?!"
He gave her a look, which she knew what it meant. Why was she even asking that kind of question? Of course it had been Gabriel. Who else?
"Alright. I demand an explanation!" Alya backed away and folded her arms across her chest. "It doesn't feel so great been left in the dark, you know."
"I got in a fight with my father," Unexpectedly Adrien was the one who spoke. "It's no big deal." He was saying that now, but Marinette knew it was a huge deal.
"Can... Can I be left alone please?"
They nodded, and Emilie and Alya headed for the door. But as Marinette was walking, Adrien grabbed her hand and held her back.
"Not you."
Marinette could see Alya smirking, and finally the door closed behind her.
"What is it?" Marinette didn't make eye contact, because if she did, she would start getting all nervous.
"Can you tell me why you left?" Even with all the amount of times he had been telling her to mind her own business and stop getting herself in trouble, he wanted her there. As crazy as it sounded, she was his shield. With her around, he felt more safe and less nervous.
"I... Emilie told me I could. I..."
"Oh, I get it!" Adrien turned away. "You left because you didn't want to stay with Gabriel, right? You didn't like what Gabriel and Lina were doing to you."
Marinette nodded. "That's part of it... Oh, what am I saying? That's the full reason. Listen, I didn't want to leave, but I didn't want to stay either."
Adrien turned back to her. After he had left that day when Marinette was crying her eyes out, he got an idea. The reason that she was telling him to tell her his secret. She knew.
She knew he was Cat Noir.
"Marinette, I'm glad you left," He gave her a small smile. "If you had stayed, Gabriel would have beaten you up as well without hesitation. He was really angry, and when he's angry, he goes out of control."
Marinette heaved a small sigh of relief. "I was really worried. Maybe... Maybe you should move out from the mansion, so he wouldn't he doing all this."
Adrien nodded. "He'd always just find me and beat me a hundred times worse. And probably you too, because you suggested it."
Letting out another sigh, Marinette wrapped her arms around Adrien, pulling him into a tight hug.
"Ow."
"Sorry." She loosened the hug, and he hugged back. "I won't leave you again, you get that?"
"What about Gabriel?"
"Forget about him! We'll figure out something." Without knowing what she was doing, she placed a kiss on his forehead, causing a small blush to slowly form on his cheeks.
Then he nodded, knowing he was in safe arms.
